Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
You’ll enjoy a panoramic overview from the Mount of Olives, overlooking the new city of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount Esplanade of the old city. As you travel along the Kidron Valley, you’ll take in views of the Garden of Gethsemane and the walls of the city.

On reaching the Armenian Quarter you’ll enter the Western or Wailing Wall square via the local bazaar. See the Christian Quarter and the Stations of the Cross, also known as the Via Dolorosa. Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which is considered to be the site of the crucifixion of Jesus. You’ll walk along the 1,700-year-old Byzantine Cardo, the main street, and see the renovated Jewish Quarter.

The tour continues on to Bethlehem, with a Palestinian guide and vehicle. Bethlehem, meaning the City of Bread, was the birthplace of Jesus, according to Christian tradition. In Bethlehem you’ll visit the Church of the Nativity, and also the cave where Jesus was born.

Before completing the tour, you’ll stop at the St. Catharine Greek Catholic Church. Enjoy views of the Shepherd's Fields on the return drive to Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 2
Depart Jerusalem for the descent into the Judean Desert to the lowest place on earth.

Ascend Masada by cable car to the fortress and palace. Explore the fortress built by King Herod around 37 B.C. Visit the ruins of the palaces and see the mosaic floors and Roman baths. The 12 water cisterns are a particularly remarkable feature, each having a capacity of 140,000 cubic feet.

Following the tour of Masada, you’ll drive to the Dead Sea mineral beach, located in the Jordan Rift Valley, between Jordan and the West Bank. This is the lowest spot on earth and its high density of salt makes for a unique experience if you float on the beautiful aquamarine surface. Take a mud bath and benefit from the therapeutic qualities of the natural Dead Sea mud.

On the return trip you’ll see the Qumeran cave, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. You’ll then return to your hotel, or the nearest drop off point, in either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
