Day 1: Bali–Ferry to Ketapang–Ijen Volcano You'll start your three-day adventure in the evening with pickup from your hotel. Then you'll head to Gilimanuk Port to take a ferry to Ketapang. From there, drive to the starting point of Ijen Volcano. Day 2: Ijen Volcano–Crater–Bromo Village Day two begins with a brief safety session before starting the roughly 2-hour trek to the crater. Once at the crater, you’ll be able to see the remarkable blue flames that can reach up to 16 feet tall. After exploring the area, refuel with a delicious breakfast and start the long drive to Bromo Village. Stop for rest and lunch along the way. Day 3: Bromo Village–Bromo Volcano Sunrise–Bali Day three will start with another early wake-up call and a drive to the Penanjakan Sunrise Point. You'll trek up another active volcano, Mount Bromo, before stopping to watch the majestic sunrise and take in panoramic views from the top of the volcano. Before it gets too hot, you’ll head back for breakfast before heading back to Bali.

Day 1 Start your adventure with pickup from your accommodation in Yogyakarta in the morning and travel to Mount Bromo. Enjoy beautiful landscapes along the way while your friendly driver negotiates the notorious Indonesian traffic. Upon arriving at Mount Bromo, be sure to visit Madakaripura Waterfall to marvel at this spectacular show of nature. Once you’ve settled into your accommodation there, enjoy some free time to explore the area and prepare for the sunrise tomorrow. Day 2 Rise early to get ready for a truly unforgettable experience as you witness the magical sunrise views of Mount Bromo, the most popular volcano in Indonesia. After exploring Mount Bromo, head back to the hotel to enjoy a delicious breakfast before traveling to Banyuwangi City, where your accommodation for the Ijen Crater tour is located. Day 3 Today, your tour starts in the middle of the night as you head to the Ijen Crater. Hike up to the top of the Ijen Crater on a 90 to 120-minute hike, where you can witness the fascinating blue flames rise up from inside the crater. After exploring the crater, get dropped off back at the hotel or at Ketapang Harbor if you are continuing on to Bali.

Be collected at your accommodation in Bali or Banyuwangi. The hike to the Ijen Crater viewpoint takes 90-120 minutes from the foot of the path, which leads you to the top. On a clear day, you can see the magical blue fire, which is a truly unique experience. After witnessing the stunning blue flames from the viewpoint, continue to catch the beautiful sunrise over the largest acid lake on Java Island, called Ijen's Crater. On the way back to the parking lot, appreciate the local miners carrying sulfur rock as part of their daily tough life to continue fulfilling their family bread and butter.  After 1-hour trek down, you will reach the parking lot around 7:00 AM. Do not miss the experience to stop at the coffee and cloves plantation on the way back to your accommodation in Banyuwangi or Bali.

Benefit from pick-up from your hotel in Bali, and then travel to the westernmost tip to catch the ferry to Java from Gilimanuk. Upon arrival at Ketapang port in Banyuwangi, travel by 4WD vehicle to the village of Licin and drive through a rainforest of giant ferns and trees on the slopes of Mount Ijen.  Ascend to the summit to look into the crater and marvel at the blue fires of the volcano under a canopy of stars. Get a panoramic view of the sulfur lake and surrounding landscape in the first light of day. Then, return to the base of the mountain to enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant before the drive back to the Bali.

Stop at the miner’s shack for a short rest and head back to the hotel for breakfast before the return trip to Bali.

There’s much to see in Yogyakarta – a large city with limited public transportation options for visitors.
