Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park

Enjoy a full day tour to the most beautiful and important historical sites outside Mexico City: Puebla, Cholula and Tonantzintla. You will start driving from Mexico City and cross the highway with the mountains in the backdrop, towards the east side of the city. Admire breathtaking views and beautiful scenery of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes and get to the town of Cholula. Then, head to Santa María de Tonantzintla, this unique Church combines two religious interpretations that coexist (the indigenous and the Christian) and it its considered the most representative church of the indigenous baroque art. Visit the Cathedral and the historic center of Puebla in a guided walking tour, that will take you to the most important and representative places of this "City of Angels". Before returning to Mexico City, you'll be able to taste the local food, visit Parian Market and have free time to explore on your own.

Discover the last vestiges of Mexico City in its pre-Hispanic era. Follow your local guide and learn about the history of Xochimilco, a World Heritage cultural site which is also a protected natural area. Meet your guide at the Cuemanco Pier where you will be trained to use your kayak. Begin your adventure by embarking on a kayak to see the sunrise or sunset. Be on the lookout for different species of migratory and local birds on your journey. Take a break in the middle of the lagoon and capture memorable photos of the amazing views. If the weather permits, you will also be able to see the volcanoes of Mexico. Set sail and visit the Axolotl conservation center. Get up close and see the Axolotl in person, an animal that is in danger of extinction and is native to Xochimilco.

Meet your guide, then leave the busy streets of Mexico City behind as you head out into the surrounding landscapes towards Iztaccihuatl-Popocatepetl National Park. Start off with an exploration of the lower parts of the volcanoes at the Paso de Cortes. Follow your guide as you trek through the wilderness, soaking up epic views of the volcanoes while learning about their history and activity. Walk up to the Cerro Altzomoni where you can marvel at Popocatepetl and its fumarole.  Afterwards, descend towards the Amalacaxco Ravine to see an array of native flora and fauna. Return to Paso de Cortes, then travel back to the city, stopping at a traditional market along the way for a delicious and well-deserved lunch.

Depart Mexico City and spend the day touring the Izta-Popo National Park. Head to the foothills of Popocatépetl to start your hike up Iztaccíhuatl from the base of the dormant volcanic mountain. Take in the beautiful scenery and fresh air as you walk in a small group. Your skill level will determine how high the hike will go, so you won't feel strained beyond your abilities. Popocatépetl is Mexico’s second highest peak and part of the tour offers splendid views of the valley and village of Amecameca below. Marvel at the 3,700-meter high mountain of La Joya in the famous Paso de Cortés, named after the Spanish conquerors who crossed it on their way to Mexico-Tenochtitlan in 1519.  Then, return to Mexico City and reflect on the tranquility of the mountain and the miraculous wonder of nature.

Once you are picked up from your accommodation in Mexico City, you will begin the journey towards Cholula. Upon arrival, you will visit the impressive Tonanzintla church, considered a jewel of Mexican baroque dating back to the 16th century, reflecting the fusion of Christian and indigenous thought. The next stop will be at the Cholula pyramid, where you will climb to visit the Church of Our Lady of Remedies and enjoy a spectacular view of the valley. If the weather permits, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the majestic Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. Afterwards, you will continue towards downtown Puebla, where you will have time to enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant and stroll to admire the city's highlights, such as the Cathedral, the Rosario Chapel, the charming streets, French and colonial-style buildings, and of course, the traditional Talavera craftsmanship. At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to Mexico City and dropped off at your accommodation or the pre-agreed meeting point.

This tour is for those travelers who love sunrises or sunsets, both are different panoramas. Arrive in the city of Cholula and visit the Great Pyramid, the archaeological site and the Museum. Ascend to the Our Lady of Remedies Church, a church built on top of the pyramid. Later, visit the church of Santa María Tonantzintla - unique for its interior decoration composed of indigenous motifs and Catholic elements. Learn about how the Indigenous peoples of Tonatzintla wanted to represent Tlaloc, the god of rain, in the dome of the sky chapel. Witness how every little carved face is not an angel, but rather an Indigenous person who died and was reincarnated in the sky. Finally, visit the church of San Francisco Acatepec - a beautiful and unforgettable church. Admire the extraordinary scenery protected by the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. Visit the cathedral, which is cross-shaped and consists of 5 naves. See how the central altar was constructed in an octagonal shape whilst the other 4 altars face in the direction of compass points. Marvel at the bell towers which are the largest in Mexico. Continue on to visit the famous Capilla del Rosario, which in its day was considered as one of the 8 wonders of the world. Step inside the chapel to see a statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, surrounded by numerous saints, angels, and martyrs. At the end of the tour, stroll down Calle de los Dulces and get to know the many iconic typical desserts. At 6 PM return to Mexico City where your tour will end.

Get ready for your climb and discover the beautiful countryside that surrounds this emblematic volcanic mountain. Arrive at the first pass and see the other side of the mountain, giving you magnificent views of the volcano Popocatepetl. Continue climbing to a scree slope and arrive at the third pass, passing again to the other side of the mountain where you will be able to see the city of Puebla and the impressive Pico de Orizaba, the highest point in Mexico.  Continue on the last climb to be able to reach our destination, the 100 Hut at 4,720 meters above sea level.
