Half Day Cape Town City Tour

3. Half Day Cape Town City Tour

We start our half day Cape Town tour in the heart of the City Bowl and take you past the main heritage landmarks. Cape Town is the oldest city in southern Africa and is rich in history. The city was built by the Dutch East India Company and you’ll see many of the historic sites that served as military, administrative and civilian facilities. To learn more about the fascinating history of South Africa, we visit the Iziko South African Museum. The original South African Museum was founded in 1825 and is situated in the historic Company’s Gardens. The state-of-the-art Iziko South African Museum houses a vast collection of historical artefacts as well as more than 1.5 million specimens of scientific importance. There is also a fascinating Planetarium on the property. You’ll have a opportunity to stroll through the museum at your leisure and visit the gorgeous Company Gardens. The original gardens were created in the 1650s and provided the first settlers with fresh produce to replenish their food stores on the ships. Next stop is the vibrant village of Bo-Kaap which lies at the foot of Signal Hill. Formerly known as the Malay Quarter, it was home to the Indonesian and Asian slaves that were bought to Cape Town by the Dutch to build the city. Many of the predominantly Muslim inhabitants living in Bo-Kaap today are descendants of the original slaves. Bo-Kaap is one of the most photographed villages in the country with its brightly-painted homes and steep cobbled streets. The morning or afternoon ends with a leisurely drive past Signal Hill and down Kloof Road to the beautiful seaside towns of Clifton and Camp’s Bay. It’s an exceptionally pretty drive and offers incredible views of Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill and the glistening Atlantic Ocean. The beaches of Clifton and Camp’s Bay are Blue Flag beaches. For those who have pre-booked Option 1, we take you to Table Mountain Aerial Cableway for a trip up to the top of the famous mountain. Otherwise, we drive back to Cape Town City Bowl along the Atlantic Seaboard passing through Sea Point and Green Point. We drop you back at your hotel or guest house mid-day (13h00 for morning tour) or early evening (18h00 for afternoon tour).

Cape Town: Marine Wildlife Cruise and City Tour

7. Cape Town: Marine Wildlife Cruise and City Tour

Immerse yourself in the thriving center of the Mother City and experience a fun combination tour of both the land and the sea. The tour starts with a trip to the waterfront for a 1.5 hour cruise of Table Bay. Marvel at the amazing sea life that lives here including seals, penguins, and dolphin pods, and if you’re lucky enough you might even spot a whale. Enjoy the stunning views of Table Mountain and Robben Island from the water and snap some incredible photos as the wildlife appears before you. After the boat ride, enjoy a stroll along the waterfront indoor food market and taste the flavors of the region with a selection of local delicacies and traditional treats. Once lunch is over, return to your guide in time for the afternoon city tour. The first stop on the tour is the Castle of Good Hope, which stands proudly on the outskirts of the business district and was built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company. Today, the Castle is the seat of the military in the Cape, and is open for visitors to explore and learn more about its history. Next, head to the Bo Kaap, tucked under the slopes of Signal Hill. The Bo Kaap is a fascinating and vibrant area that was somehow bypassed in the forced removal policies of the Apartheid. Also called the Malay Quarter, this area is characterized by its multicolored cottages and steep cobbled streets, as well as its exotic Malay culture. No tour in Cape Town would be complete without a visit to the Bo Kaap! Retrace the course of history next with a visit to the South African Museum. Take a look at life throughout the ages in South Africa and learn about the rich history of the region. Many exhibits can be found here, and there is also a Planetarium situated within the building. The museum is situated in the Company Gardens, which holds the Seat of Parliament. Pristine lawns, shady paths, ornate fish ponds, statues of past leaders and plenty of curious squirrels are just a part of the Company Gardens’ charm.

We booked the two day tickets with free sunset bus and cannal cruise. It’s very worthy. First day we took the red line for Table mountain, also the sunset tour. Then blue line to connect the wine tour on the second day. Everything is perfect.
