After that, it’s time to pass the The Bloody Bridge Street and hear a story about how such a lovely street got such a bloody name. Later, we’ll climb up the Gradec hill and pass through the medieval Stone Gate and hear a story about a miracle. We’ll also see Zagreb’s first pharmacy. After that we’ll visit the heart of the medieval Gradec hill, today a home to the colorful roof of St. Mark’s Church, and the Parliament and Government buildings. We’ll walk down Ćirilometodska street and hear stories about alphabet, theater, witches, art, marriage… Our next stop will be at the beautiful St. Catherine’s Church, known for its Baroque stucco decorations and painted ceiling. We’ll arrive to Lotrščak Tower, a part of the original defensive walls from the 13th century with an interesting origin story. If we start our tour at 10:00 h, we’ll be there right on time to see and hear a cannon fire at noon! Don’t be scared, it happens every day. After that it’s time to enjoy the shortest funicular ride in the world. We will end our tour at Zagreb’s main square (Ban Jelačić Square), the heart of modern-day Zagreb. From the cathedral, continue your journey to Dolac Market, the city's central open-air market open in 1930. From Dolac our tour continues to Gornji Grad (Upper Town), Zagreb's historic center. This charming district is known for its narrow cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and centuries-old landmarks. Begin your exploration at Kamenita Vrata (Stone Gate), a symbolic gateway that houses a revered painting of the Virgin Mary. Just a few steps away, you'll see the iconic St. Mark’s Church, with its distinctive, multicolored tiled roof. Then you'll visit St. Mark's Square, where you can admire the 16th-century buildings and take in the views of the surrounding hills. Next point will be Lotrščak Tower, one of Zagreb's most iconic and historic landmarks, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s medieval past along with spectacular views of the surrounding area.
