As is the usual case with endings, it's a bittersweet affair sealed with a classic Zagreb pastry and coffee. These are the places locals go to eat and where they like to take their friends to show them the genuine, classy side of the city that was born and bred under various influences. Our next stop will be the beautiful Cathedral where you will hear the story about the founding of Zagreb and the “church hill” Kaptol. We'll visit the city’s most vibrant street, Tkalčićeva street, where you’ll hear what the locals do for fun and also a few interesting local legends. After that, it’s time to pass the The Bloody Bridge Street and hear a story about how such a lovely street got such a bloody name. Later, we’ll climb up the Gradec hill and pass through the medieval Stone Gate and hear a story about a miracle. We’ll also see Zagreb’s first pharmacy. After that we’ll visit the heart of the medieval Gradec hill, today a home to the colorful roof of St. Mark’s Church, and the Parliament and Government buildings. We’ll walk down Ćirilometodska street and hear stories about alphabet, theater, witches, art, marriage… Our next stop will be at the beautiful St. Catherine’s Church, known for its Baroque stucco decorations and painted ceiling. We’ll arrive to Lotrščak Tower, a part of the original defensive walls from the 13th century with an interesting origin story. If we start our tour at 10:00 h, we’ll be there right on time to see and hear a cannon fire at noon! Don’t be scared, it happens every day. After that it’s time to enjoy the shortest funicular ride in the world. We will end our tour at Zagreb’s main square (Ban Jelačić Square), the heart of modern-day Zagreb.
