Enjoy an afternoon tour in Istanbul to discover the history of Turkish coffee. On this thematic tour you’ll attend a coffee-making course, and receive a certificate, visit several coffee stores, and taste a variety of Turkish coffees and Turkish delight.
What to Expect
Explore the history and experience the irresistible flavor of Turkey's national drink, widely known as Turkish coffee.
On this half-day tour you’ll hear how coffee was introduced to the region in 1519, when the Ottomans brought the first coffee beans from Cairo to Istanbul. Within 30 years the first coffee stores were opened in the Eminönü district, in what is now called the historical peninsula. This uniquely flavored beverage still remains one of the favorite drinks of many Turkish people.
Your tour begins with an enjoyable workshop, where you’ll learn the tricks of coffee-making and receive a certificate at the end. You’ll then head out on a walking tour along the historical Coffee Route through colorful Eminönü. Stop for a coffee and Turkish delight tasting at a famous coffee store.
With expert commentary from your professional guide, you’ll relive history along the walkways, and in the bazaars and coffee stores of the Ottoman era.
At the end of the tour, the driver will accompany you back to your hotel or another location in the city center if you prefer.
