I was happy to get my ticket through get your guide as I got an audioguide for all the tour on the boat on the Bosphorus. The boat that I boarded didn't provide any explanation of the places that were along the route so I enjoyed learning about the landmarks and history of Istanbul with this audioguide. Once I got to the meeting point, it was very quick to get the app and download the audioguide. The only thing I'd like to point is that I booked for the 13 hrs trip and the boat departed at 12:45!!! Luckily I arrived early to the Pier and I got a good seat at the edge and secured my trip.
The ticket purchase and subsequent tour was great value for money. The guide was on time and spoke excellent English. The price we paid was significantly less than similar tour providers. The guests however, must arrive at the gate of the palace on time using their own means of transport (a plus for me). Few downsides worth mentioning, the maintenance work at the palace reduced the overall time spent inside it, since many rooms were closed. My ticket did not provide access to the Harem and the painting museum.
The Staff were friendly, albeit some struggled with English. The staff who helped get the ticket and audio guide were superb. I couldn't speak more highly about the well organised audio guide. Definitely a highlight of our trip. I recommend doing this tour first. As you will feel you have more of a general understanding of Istanbul. The views were stunning. It really showed the best parts.
Be prepared for loud Music and dance, and the Art of Ancient and classical dance I personally was a bit confused, too many different acts which were to simbolise the Ancient classical dance , I would have loved to know the story behind each performances..
For anyone interested in spirituality and the beauty of Islamic music, to watch the Whirling Dervishes as they perform their reverent dance, is a privilege and joy. If you are expecting to be entertained by a show, this is not for you.
