What to Expect
Explore the Asian side of Istanbul on this tour that is a wonderful combination of strolling and a boat trip across the Bosphorus.

You will be picked up from your hotel and dropped off at one of the stations of Marmaray on the European side of Istanbul. You will travel with your guide on a modern train to reach Üsküdar Marmaray Station and enjoy a walking tour of the charming Ottoman district, full of historic mosques and complexes.

Visit the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, named and made for the favorite daughter of Suleyman the Magnificent. Explore the lively fish market and continue on to Mimar Sinan’s Baths and the Yeni Valide Mosque, Külliye of Aziz Mahmud Hüdai, and Ayazma Mosque.

Rum Mehmet Paşa Mosque and Şemsi Paşa Mosque are definite highlights of the tour, the latter of the buildings designed by the Ottoman arch architect Mimar Sinan. Following the walk, which takes about 2 hours, you will return to the boat and sail back to the Spice Bazaar.

After lunch we will visit Kadıköy, historically known as Chalcedon, literally the “City of the Blind" where Julian the Apostate brought his enemies to trial. In 451 AD it was a place of the famous Council of Chalcedon. The Council defined the human and divine natures of Jesus and created a schism within the churches, leading to the creation of Oriental Orthodoxy.

Boethus, Herophilos, Xenocrates and Thrasymachus were notable people who called Chalcedon home. Your walk will begin with the historical harbor buildings of Kadıköy and continue along the narrow streets of the famous fish market and Moda district.

Explore the churches, mosques, and mansions that make the area so magnificent before concluding your 7-hour tour of Istanbul.
