Full description
The tour starts right in front of the Galata Tower. Your guide will introduce the area and the tower as you head toward the elevators together. Once you reach the upper part of the tower, prepare for the best panoramic view of Istanbul from the balconies. Look out over glorious monuments like the Hagia Sophia Museum, Suleymaniye Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace, as well as the unique geography of Istanbul around the Bosphorus. After your free time on the balconies, your tour continues with the centuries-old streets of Galata. The walking tour will take you downhill to the seaside. From there, hop on one of the oldest subways in the world for five minutes to see the famous Istiklal Street. Galata and Pera are home to the living memory of different cultures, nationalities, and religions. On the way there, pass various temples and buildings of many architectural styles, and hear stories about the local people. This part of Istanbul provides you with another angle with which to understand the cultural background of the city. The walking tour ends back around the tower. Your guide will tell you how to reach different transportation options and get to your next destination. The areas covered on the tour also include very popular shopping and eating establishments; after the tour, you can continue exploring this interesting area on your own. If you need any suggestions, feel free to ask your local guide for some insider tips.

Our guide was attentive to our needs and interests. He was knowledgable and friendly. We enjoyed the walkabout even though it was raining. Great views from the top of the tower. If your tour is during the day, besure to stay in the area for pictures at night. The tower at night is magical.

Our guide was a nice, friendly and enthusiastic guy. The view from the tower was immense and gave us the chance to understand and take in the vastness of Istanbul. The walking tour took us through old shopping passages we wouldn't have walked in if we'd done this on our own. And we stopped by the Pera Palace hotel. Good value for money.

Except the visit to the Galata Tower, the rest of the tour was boring. The tour guide Adil was friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and history of Istanbul, but the tour itself was lackluster. Perhaps it’s because the tour starts so early in the morning when most of the establishments are still closed for business. So you see a usually vibrant area when no one is there and you miss out on the vibrancy that Istanbul has to offer. Perhaps it would be better if the tour was later in the day when you can experience the real Istanbul.
