It’s a long morning. If you’re not up for nearly three hours of rooms.. do just the Harem. Smaller and somewhat cozier than the main palace the Harem lacks some of the wow points but is still worth the visit!!!

  • There is no strict dress code at Dolmabahçe Palace, but modest, comfortable attire is recommended. Cover shoulders & knees, especially in religious or ceremonial areas. Avoid sleeveless tops, shorts, & strapless dresses to respect the site's decorum
  • There are numerous excellent opportunities for photography outdoors. Photography inside is not allowed

It is a must to visit the Dolmabahçe Palace, Harem, and grounds. It is gorgeous, and an interesting window to the sultans’ lives. The audio tour was easy to use, and very important since we didn’t know much of the history. Skip the line ticket is a nice perk since the Palace is a popular tourist site. It’s important to have the QR code for each ticket in your party, which was not clear to me when I saved our tickets to my Apple Wallet. Those tickets were not enough to enter the grounds. I had to access my email in order to find each QR code. We also enjoyed decent sandwiches and drinks at the cafe between our tour of the Palace and the Harem. Since we moved at a leisurely pace, we were on the grounds for about 4 hours.
