The guide has a compelling sense of history and recounted how the structure evolved and passed through various stages in history. he has a very deep understanding of the various periods the Romans then the Christians and then the ottomans. Also he was accommodative of various questions asked at different stage. Further the guide told us to take pictures later as there is enough time to those later and soak in wat he had to say. this was quote apt.

I’m not a big fan of guided tours, especially with groups, so this was perfect for me - not too long, gave the basic facts and showed the key bits very clearly and then ended inside to let us explore further. Well organised and reasonably priced. Important: bring something to cover your hair if you’re a woman and be aware that you will be asked to take your shoes off, as Sophia is now a mosque.

The whole experience was amazing! The monument is magnificent, the guide was polite and explaining enough and he was speaking slowly and everything was understandable. Still he was not talking all the time so that you could be able to enjoy the energy and the tour. I especially enjoyed the explanation in concern to converting the orthodox church to mosque. The history and the energy of this place are inspiring and if there is one ‘must see place’, i would highly recommend that one.
