Full description

Located outside Istanbul's historic city walls is the captivating Eyup Sultan area, an Ottoman district brimming with interesting sights and monuments. On this half-day walking tour, stroll through the district and visit a long-standing Islamic shrine and learn of its importance to the local people. Begin with a visit to the Mosque of Eyub al Ansari – the standard-bearer of Prophet Muhammed. It’s this mosque that makes Eyüp so special to followers of the Islamic faith, and it's also one of the real highlights of the tour. Other stand-outs include the Mausoleum of Sokullu Mehmet Paşa, a Grand Vizier of Selim II, the Mosque of Zal Mahmut Paşa, the son-in-law of Sultan Selim II, and the Mausoleum of Sultan Resat, the Tekke of the Kalenderi Sect.

Of course, these are just some of the interesting and historic sights you will see during the tour. The walk ends with a stroll through the Eyüp Cemetery to the Pier Loti Hill, giving you the opportunity to look over the area you have just explored.

Breathtaking and Enriching as History with a capital H

A brilliant circuit with a guide having an extraordinary culture for each place each monument each period of history a cultural outing as we wished, an availability for each question Bravo for this knowledge which has been transmitted to us

October 15, 2018

This is the first time that I put a negative comment but you should still not make fun of the world. For such a price, it's outrageous! Summary of the proposed circuit: after a failed meeting at the pick-up point, we were taken to a very beautiful site, with a charming young woman for company, but who simply accompanied us first on the path leading to the mosque and to the tomb of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, she then waited for us at the exit to tell us how to get home. Go your way, so you can make this visit alone by finding out about the means of transport (only 1 from the center) and you will save money! The important thing is to read the story of the companion of the prophet a little before and to learn about Pierre Loti, fortunately we had done it! Because this moving spiritual place and this splendid panorama of the Bosphorus and the city are really worth visiting.
