Admire the centuries-old architecture of the Bosphorus District and discover the amazing variety of aromas and colors in the Spice Bazaar. Take a Bosphorus cruise and enjoy views of the palaces, fortresses, and Ottoman houses that line the shores.
What to Expect
Enjoy a half-day guided group tour of the Bosphorus District, the most authentic and charming part of Istanbul.
You’ll see the ancient city walls along the natural and extremely secure harbor formed by the Golden Horn. Visit the Spice (Egyptian) Bazaar, and experience the enticing aromas of cinnamon, caraway, saffron, mint, thyme, and every other conceivable spice and herb.
Board a boat for a cruise along the Bosphorus, the waterway that separates Europe from Asia. The shores are lined with old wooden villas, marble palaces, fortresses, and small fishing villages. You’ll pass the magnificent Dolmabahce Palace, and further along, the parks and imperial pavilions of Yildiz Palace as well.
On the coastal edge of this park, you’ll find Ciragan Palace, with 300 meters of its marble façade facing the water.
At Ortakoy, a variety of artists gather every Sunday to display their work along the street. Ortakoy is a symbol of tolerance in Istanbul, featuring a church, a mosque, and a synagogue that have existed side by side for centuries.
You’ll see Rumeli Fortress from the sea. Built by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1452 prior to the conquest of Istanbul, it was built to control and protect the Bosphorus, and completed in only 4 months. It is considered one of the most beautiful works of military architecture anywhere in the world.
