What to Expect
Set in the heart of Central Anatolia, the magical Cappadocia region is underlain by sedimentary rocks formed in lakes and streams, and by ignimbrite deposits that erupted from ancient volcanoes approximately 9 to 3 million years ago.

The rocks of Cappadocia near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. Carved into houses, churches and monasteries by the people of the villages at the heart of the Cappadocia Region, the soft rock volcanic deposits are a marvel to observe.

On this package tour from Istanbul, you will fly to Kayseri and transfer to Ürgüp, spending 3 days exploring the unique region, with pottery classes, visits to rock-cut dwellings, and a tour of Pigeon Valley among your highlights.

Day 1
Fly to Kayseri and transfer to Ürgüp early in the morning. You will then walk through the “Fairy Chimneys” of the Devrent Valley, visiting Paşabağ (Monks’) Valley. Practice pottery production using techniques that date back 4,000 years in Avanos.

Visit Göreme, the open-air museum that hosts the earliest churches and chapels carved in fairy chimneys, presenting the finest examples of frescoes in the region. Continue to Uçhisar Castle, the highest point in the region, for spectacular panoramic views.

Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2
Get panoramic views of the Hospital Monastery. Walk into the wonderland of Kızılçukur (Red Valley) and the village of Çavuşin, looking at the extraordinary rock-cut dwellings. Continue to the underground City of Kaymaklı. The rock-cut city lies beneath the earth and extends for to 8-9 levels. Learn how early Christians used to hide from Roman and Byzantine persecution under the ground.

Explore the rock formations in Çatalkaya. Get a fantastic overview of the fairy chimneys from Esentepe. Continue to Pigeon Valley and see the greatest collection of pigeon nests in the world.

Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3
Go to the Derinkuyu Underground City and walk through the beautiful Ihlara Valley. You will stop for lunch at Belisırma, and then visit the marvelous monasteries at Yaprakhisar and Selime.

In the evening, transfer to Kayseri Airport for your flight to İstanbul and the end of your tour of the magical wonderland of Cappadocia.
