Five stars for the experience and five stars for Paul. Paul picked us up promptly, was very informative in the first part of the journey about our day ahead. The coffee farm was lovely with some great samples, and the picnic provided was brilliant. Throughout the day, in between stops, Paul went into more detail about the next stop. The bakery was very cute, followed by the caldera, then dinner at a restaurant which I would recommend even if you’re not on the tour. After dinner, we visited the lava tube and a different viewpoint of the caldera after dark where you can see the lava flow, even on a less eruptive day. Overall I would 100% recommend the volcano day tour, the guide could not do enough for us and the scenery was breathtaking.

Continue to the famous Punalu’u Bake Shop. Here you can peruse the southernmost bakery in the United States and enjoy fresh Hawaiian sweet bread and malasadas—a Portuguese donut and favorite local treat.

Visit the world-famous Punalu’u Black Sand beach. This incredible stretch of black sand beach is home to nesting Hawaiian sea turtles and is also a favorite spot for locals to fish and BBQ on the weekends.

Traverse the Big Island of Hawaii and see Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, traveling over the wild and varied landscapes of the active Kilauea Volcano. Experience the heat of steam vents rising up from cracks in the earth, and take a short hike through Thurston Lava Tube.
