Dave was an excellent guide, so much knowledge to share and lots of jokes to share. He was quick to point out extra points of interest for us when he found out I was a Geography teacher and offered some valuable insights into the area and living somewhere so active. Food was provided throughout the day and nothing was too much hassle, even coping with the many dietary requirements they were presented with. A busy day that allowed us to see many sites across the island and a chance to stop and look at the stars late at night. Excellent tour and experience, would thoroughly recommend.
Our guide Dave was absolutely amazing!!! Hands down the best tour guide ever. He was experienced, attentive, patient, and had a lot of knowledge you could never learn from textbooks. The Hawaiian hospitality is real, and I felt like every dollar I spent was worth it. I learned so much from this tour as Dave shared a lot of his personal experiences from living in the island for so many years. And they were all interesting too. Some tour guides in other places share a lot of trivial facts that are uninteresting or too personal, but everything Dave shared was actually interesting, and he did not force/push anything onto us. From star constellations to the formations of lava tubes, Dave candidly shared his extensive knowledge and experiences with us. It felt like he actually knows every corner of the big island. I wish we had more time with him to learn more about it. Just keep in mind that there’s a lot of traveling in this tour (as expected since the volcano is inside a national park).
