Puerto Plata: Half-Day Mountainside Horseback Riding

Puerto Plata: Half-Day Mountainside Horseback Riding

This half-day horseback excursion includes approximately 2 hours of riding throughout the mountain range just above Puerto Plata. Approximately 1000 ft above the city, there are breathtaking views over the Bay of Silver where, centuries ago, Columbus arrived by ship. Firstly, you will travel by safari truck to the old mountain road which slowly climbs up the mountains, dotted with small local farms and amber and larimar mines. There is also an abundance of coconut palms, sparkling rivers, and tropical flowers. Stepping off the truck, you'll find the horses saddled up ready to take you gently through lush green fields, river beds, and small streams. You will smell, feel, and be immersed in a natural setting outside of the fast pace of life in the big city. After the tour ends, you will be dropped back at your hotel.

Not my first trip to Puerto Plata but this one had a better experience. Our Guide was caring and professional. He brought us to the locations but was also mentioning that if we don’t want to buy anything we don’t need to. This was different on other trips with other companies. We had enough time to check the sites and make pictures (where he assisted) and he always had our pace adjusted. The lunch in the end was amazing- we had a great exchange about history and culture and the food was original and delicious. When I will come back - definitely will check if Antonio is around to lead the next experience

We had a really nice day. Antonio, our tour guide, explained everything to us very well, answered our questions and sometimes even gave us the choice of what we wanted to see. We had enough time for everything, nothing seemed rushed and the food was really delicious. All in all, a great city tour. Really recommendable!

Diana was an amazing tour guide and really should us the beauty and history of Puerto Plata. I enjoyed her honest points of view, and her passion. This tour is definitely worth it.

The tour guide Antonio and the drive Maximo were amazing!! Both of them went above and beyond to make us enjoy the tour to the fullest!!! Thank you guys, you were the best!

Everything was incredible, especially the attention of the guide.
