Experience the ride with cable car, and then enjoy the bird eye view of the coast and the Puerto Plata city. Go for a pleasant walk through the exotic National Park of Isabela Peak. Enjoy the vibrant nature in botanical garden. Then discover the colonial city: Independence Parque with the Saint Philip Cathedral and colourful old wooden houses around it, famous Umbrella Street and Dona Blanca Passage. Try fresh coconut from a street vendor! Have some free time for a cup of dominican coffee or a cold beer. You can find some souvenirs here if you wish. Explore the Saint Philip Fortress along the harbor bay and have a look at the fishing boats on the Malecon seaside boulevard. In the afternoon you'll have a typical dominican lunch: fish or meat with rice and beans. It's called "bandera dominicana" - "dominican flag". After the meal you'll visit the factory Macorix House of Rum where you can taste many kinds of rum and sugar cane liquors. You'll visit the organic chocolate factory in Puerto Plata where you can taste it. Finally, we can drop by the supermarket for a while, so you can do some dominican shopping: rum, coffee, cacao, etc all in affordable local prices. This half-day horseback excursion includes approximately 2 hours of riding throughout the mountain range just above Puerto Plata. Approximately 1000 ft above the city, there are breathtaking views over the Bay of Silver where, centuries ago, Columbus arrived by ship. Firstly, you will travel by safari truck to the old mountain road which slowly climbs up the mountains, dotted with small local farms and amber and larimar mines. There is also an abundance of coconut palms, sparkling rivers, and tropical flowers. Stepping off the truck, you'll find the horses saddled up ready to take you gently through lush green fields, river beds, and small streams. You will smell, feel, and be immersed in a natural setting outside of the fast pace of life in the big city. After the tour ends, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
