Full description
Meet your friendly guide then depart Irkutsk on the Baikal motorway, learning about the local area, history, and culture along the way. After about an hour of driving, arrive at Taltsy, a charming open-air museum dedicated to the wooden architecture of Old Siberia. Listen to stories of the different cultures that have settled or passed through the area over the centuries, and their unique ways of living.

Explore the wooden church of Kazan next, built in 1679, followed by a traditional wooden fortress. Once you’ve worked up a bit of an appetite, enjoy a snack of Siberian herbal tea and pancakes with honey and sour cream. Afterwards, hop in a taxi towards the world’s deepest freshwater lake, Baikal, known to be a sacred place. Visit Dendro Park’s observation point and soak up breathtaking views of the lake and photo opportunities galore.

Stroll along the glistening shore line as your guide shares fascinating legends of the lake, then stop at an unusual museum to uncover some curiosities. After the museum, your guide will purchase fresh fish along with other local treats, then set up a picnic along the lakeside (weather permitting.)
