Iceland: 3-Day Golden Circle, South Coast, & Glacier Tour

2. Iceland: 3-Day Golden Circle, South Coast, & Glacier Tour

See some of the most amazing sites in southern Iceland on this 3-day guided tour. On day one, you'll start your tour by visiting the highlights of the Golden Circle. You'll visit Thingvellir National Park where you can stand with one foot in Europe and one in America, and see Gullfoss, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland. Marvel at the Geysir Strokkur as it erupts every 5-10 minutes, and discover the Mars-like landscape of Kerið, a magical crater lake of brilliant blue-green water surrounded by bright red soil. You'll spend the night in Hveragerði Village. You'll start day two of your tour by visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as the lesser-known waterfall of Glufrabui. Then drive under the great Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier cap where you'll enjoy a 1.5-hour glacier hike to get a closer look at the Solheimajokull glacier. End the day at the great Reynisfjara beach, where the sea crashes on the black sands, and you can see the hexagonal basalt columns and black rock sea stacks. Overnight stay in the remote Suðursveit County. On the last day of your tour, take a closer look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. Then, head to the amazing Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you will have a boat tour, sailing on the lagoon. The lagoon is full of huge chunks of ice that crack off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. Last stop is at Fjáðrárgæjúfur River Canyon. There is a good possibility of seeing seals swimming around the huge icebergs. At the end of your tour experience, head back to Reykjavik with an estimated arrival time of 9:15 PM.

3. 2 Day South Coast Tour with Glacier Hike & Boat Tour

Begin by visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as visiting the lesser known, more secret waterfall of Glufrabui. You will stop so that you can buy lunch. Drive under the great Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier cap, where you will take a glacier hike for about 1.5 hours and have a closer look at the Solheimajokull glacier. A bit further is the great Reynisfjara beach, where the sea crashes upon black sands and hexagonal basalt columns and rock stacks tower over the surroundings.  After overnighting in an Icelandic countryside accommodation, take a closer look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. Visit the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and take an amphibious boat tour, sailing on the lagoon. See the huge chunks of ice crack off the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash onto the shore, lying on the vivid black sand like diamonds on satin. Spot seals swimming around the huge icebergs before visiting the turf-roofed church Hofskirkja and Fjadrargljufur River Canyon. The canyon was formed a few thousand years ago during a glacial period, leaving a snaking river behind when the ice sheet retreated.

The tour was absolutely brilliant and I’m so glad I decided to do a 2-day one for the South Coast. This way, it was about 5 hours of driving each day, not 10 and we got to see more and didn’t have to rush at every stop. All the sights we visited were absolutely stunning and beautiful. We were super lucky with the weather, but I’m sure everything would be well worth it even in the rain. The glacier hike was amazing and our guide, Christina, made sure that everyone was safe and could participate. We could not have asked for a better guide! Christina was super fun and shared so much helpful and interesting information about Iceland with us. She also adjusted the order of the itinerary so we could avoid some crowds and make the best of the weather that was forecast. And she also made a few very nice and stunning extra stops that everyone loved, making sure we could really get the most out of our trip. I definitely strongly recommend this tour, especially with Christina as the guide!

This tour was amazing. We'd considered hiring a car so we could take our time at the stops we wanted to focus on, but I'm glad we didn't - we never could have seen or learned so much as we did with Nice Travel. We had a decent amount of time at each stop (compared to the Golden Circle which feels rushed to me) and our guide David was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, funny and going out of his way to make our experience special. Taking a more personal minibus tour makes all the difference over a full sized coach trip! The sights were incredible and hiking the glacier is something we'll remember forever (we'd been a little nervous about this part of the day but once you get used to stomping your spikes into the ice it's fine!). I highly recommend this tour, especially with David & Nice Travel.

We had a fantastic day today seen so many Amazing Waterfalls and we even seen some baby Puffins. our tour guide Addi was so informative, funny and made the trip so much more enjoyable

Fantastic experience! Guides were also fun and informative. The glacier tour is reasonably easy for all ages. You must be prepared to be picked up at 08:30 and return at 21:30.

Nicetravel was great! Really nice and passionate guide.
