Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

After you have been equipped with a warm safety overall and a life vest, step aboard a modern RIB speedboat to begin your exciting adventure. Head out to the beautiful surroundings of Skjálfandi Bay while your specialized guide demonstrates safety on-board and gives you live commentary on the sights encountered along the way. Your first visit will be Puffin Island during the nesting period (April 15 – August 20), where you can observe thousands of colorfully-beaked puffins, often called "the Clowns of the Ocean." The high speeds of your boat will make it more likely you will spot some of the bigger whales, such as the majestic blue whales and acrobatic humpback whales. Watching whales in their natural environment from a RIB speedboat is a unique experience. At the end of the tour, enjoy a little surprise from a local winemaker.

Convenient location with free parking close by, you can’t miss it. The rib boat tour was definitely the way to go even if it is more expensive. We were able to quickly track whales and dolphins and saw dozens, they were everywhere. Additionally, the trip to see puffin island was a cool experience. The guide was a marine biologist, very knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does. There was no drink due to Covid, but we knew this going in.

Great tour. Koen, our guide, and our captain worked to gather to help us see as much wildlife as possible. Koen was very knowledgable and answered all our questions. We saw quite a few whales and tons of puffins. We also got to see some dolphin, which was a nice surprise. We loved this tour.

It is worth spending more money and doing it with the boat ... than going on a boat (because people get dizzy and it is slower). If you don't see animals ... they give you the option to repeat it again if they have holes again (another time, day, etc.)
