Begin with a pickup from your hotel in Hurghada. Travel to Luxor by bus and discover the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt with a visit to the most beautiful sights around the city. Then, take a break for lunch at a local restaurant.

Visit the Temple of Karnak and admire the columned halls, the chapels, and the sacred lake of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in Luxor before boarding a felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailing boat, to cross over the Nile River to the opposite bank. Here, you will explore the City of the Dead and the Colossi of Memnon. Admire the only remains of the Temple of Amenhotep III and visit the Valley of the Kings. We had Mohammed as our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable about all the sites. He answered all questions we had and explained more if we wanted to know more about certain aspects of the tour, he also let us explore the sites by ourselves too and let us see what we wanted to see. We took the boat across the Nile which is extra but with the weather being so hot the breeze from the cruise across was nice and refreshing.

The sights are amazing and well worth the long drive. Our tour guide Mohamed was brilliant and very knowledgeable! Things to bare in mind: the car journey is over 4 hours with one toilet stop. The Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hetchepsut are quite arduous for people who are older or unfit and struggle with the heat, and they involve walking up hills and steps. The Optional Nile boat cruise is worth the extra money, rather than getting back onto the bus and driving to the next location. The restaurant was also lovely with a good selection of tasty food and puddings. It is a very long day but totally worth it!

The sightseeing was extraordinary and the guides were friendly and caring. Our guide was very well informed and that made the trip successful. What I did not appreciate was that we did not see the avenue of sphinxes although it was in the trip description when we booked. Also, we were taken to a alabaster factory which was not part of the tour and which was really not a good experience. About two hours before we were back at the hotel, the drivers asked/demanded tips. I found that unacceptable.
