Travel back to the Nguyen Dynasty on a multi-stop tour from Hoi An and Da Nang to Hue. See the Imperial City, the Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh, and the Thien Mu Pagoda. Get a taste of Hue cuisine during lunch at a local restaurant. Following pickup in Hoi An, the journey to Hue begins by crossing one of the best coastal roads in the world, the Hai Van Pass. Take advantage of a 30-minute stop at the peak and 5 minutes to take photos at Lang Co Beach.  After a final round of pickup in Da Nang, visit the Khai Dinh Tomb, a blend of Western and Eastern architecture 19th century construction. Then, enjoy lunch at a local specialty restaurant serving Hue-style dishes.  With a full stomach of local cuisine, continue to Hue’s main attraction, the Imperial Citadel. Once the home of the Nguyen Emperor, the citadel also contains the Forbidden Purple City. Explore Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s largest pagoda. Built in 1601, it is the subject of many local folk rhymes and is considered the unofficial symbol of Hue. Finish the day with drop-off back in Da Nang and Hoi An.

Today, we will have about 2.5 hours walking in the Hue Imperial Citadel and Forbidden City to learn about History of Hue and Vietnamese Royal Culture with: Nine Holy Cannons (Cửu Vị Thần Công): 9 cannons that Hue artisans cast in Gia Long's second year (1803). Nine cannons are considered as one of the most valuable bronze works of art. The ancient nine cannons were placed at the foot of the Imperial Citadel, at the entrance of the Ngo Mon Gate - the imperial city of Hue. During the reign of King Khai Dinh, they were relocated to their current position. Noon Gate (South Gate - Ngọ Môn Huế): Built in 1833 in the traditional Vietnamese style under the rule of King Minh Mang and used by the Kings for troop movements and ceremonies. Flag Tower (Kỳ Đài Huế): an architectural monument of the Nguyen Dynasty located in the middle of the south face of Hue citadel within the Nam Chanh fortress which is also the place to hang the flag of the royal court. Supreme Hamorny Palace (Điện Thái Hòa): This Palace is located in the Imperial City area of Hue citadel, which is the coronation place of 13 Nguyen kings from Gia Long to Bao Dai. In feudal regimes, this palace was considered the center of the country. Nine Dynastic Urns (Cửu Đỉnh Huế): These are nine bronze urns, located in front of The Mieu Temple in Hue Imperial Citadel. The Nine Peaks was commissioned by Emperor Minh Mang in the winter of 1835 and inaugurated on March 1, 1837. The Mieu Temple (Thế Miếu Huế): The Mieu also called The To Mieu built in 1821 by Second Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty - Minh Mang. This is a temple to worship 10 Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty. Forbidden Purple City (Tử Cấm Thành Huế): The Forbidden Purple City belongs to a complex of the ancient capital of Hue, which is the center of daily life of the Kings, their Queens, Minor Wives and Cocubines of the Nguyen's Emperors. The Forbidden City is located behind the Thai Hoa palace, was first built by King Gia Long (1804). In the third year of Minh Mang's reign (1822), the king changed the name into Forbidden Purple City. Begin with pickup from your accommodation in Da Nang or Hoi An before setting off to Hue. Make your way along one of the best coastal roads in the world, the Hai Van Pass. Next, head to the Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh, a celebrated Vietnamese emperor, and admire the elaborate architecture of the tomb. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy some specialty regional cuisine. Continue to the main attraction of Hue, the Imperial City. Explore the area and check out the impressive structures. Finally, stop at the Thien Mu Pagoda, the largest in the city Hue. Afterward, return to your accommodation.

07h30: Our guide and car will pick you up at your hotel in Hue central, then transfer to Vietnam Demilitarized Zone in Quang Tri province. Ready to start the DMZ Tour Hue. Visiting places: Horror Highway: May 1, 1972, will never be forgotten by people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien provinces not because it is International Labor Day, but because of the horrible carnage on Vietnam Highway 1, the Horror Highway. Thousands of civilians, mostly the elders, women, children, and scores of soldiers were killed by artillery and infantry weapons in hours of shooting. Long Hung Church: one of the very few existing buildings remains in Quang Tri town during “Fire Summer” or Eastern Offensive in 1972. It is a National Relic in the town of Quang Tri Vietnam – BA5453. Quang Tri Ancient Citadel: is seen as an eye-witness of fierce battles during the anti-American resistance war in 1972. During the 81-day fighting, the citadel was almost destroyed by thousands of tons of bombs released by the US army. Nowadays, the citadel becomes a place to mark immortal victories of the Vietnamese army and people and to educate youths about the nation’s revolutionary tradition and its patriotism. Small note: Quang Tri Ancient Citadel requires formal dress. If you wear shorts, you can rent a cover for 10.000vnd. Dakrong Bridge: the bridge was considered the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh Trail network, and during many years of Vietnam War, this access point was hotly contested. The Dakrong Bridge fell many times. Now it’s a grand suspension bridge, a proud thumbed nose as if to say, “You can’t knock down my bridge anymore.” On the way, tourists also have chances to meet Paco minority village. Ta Con Airport: now is the Khe Sanh Combat Base Museum, contains a boneyard of several captured U.S. tanks and aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Khe Sanh. According to the official accounts provided by the museum, 197 U.S. planes were shot down or captured during the 170-day battle. Free snacks. Enjoy the local Khe Sanh coffee (own expense). After break, our guide and car take you back to the war sites, including: Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River: The Geneva Agreements on Vietnam signed in 1954 divided Vietnam into North and South with the 17th Parallel where the Ben Hai River runs through the central province of Quang Tri as a borderline. Hien Luong Bridge, also knows as the Peace Bridge, was built by the French in 1950, across Ben Hai River. It is 178 m long but it took 21 years for Vietnamese people from the North and the South to be united. Vinh Moc Tunnels and Tunnels Museum: The most highlight part of DMZ Tour during Vietnam War. The complex of Vinh Moc tunnel located deep in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone and sheltered Vinh Linh county people from the intense bombing. The tunnels were a success in saving the villagers’ lives and providing them the necessary living conditions to fight back the American enemy. 18h00: Tour ends at hotels in Hue.

Hop onto the bus outside your hotel in Hue. Stop off at Thanh Toan Bridge, and admire the famous glazed tiles. Head to the Hai Van Pass to see the Troung Son Mountains. Then, see the Marble Mountains and arrive at Hoi An Town in the afternoon. Wait at the reception, then get on the bus outside your hotel in Hue between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. First, stop at Thanh Toan Bridge, a historic landmark and tourist attraction that was built over 200 years ago. Admire the tiled roof of this bridge and the wooden pillars. Stop at Lap An Lagoon to take beautiful photos of the peaceful lake surface. After this, drive to the Hai Van Pass in the Troung Son Mountains, known for its steep inclines and hairpin turns. Spend a bit of time here. Standing on Hai Van Pass you can see the beautiful Lang Co beach. Have a snack (Small bread) at Hai Van Pass Following this, continue to the Marble Mountains, also known as Ngu Hanh Son. Appreciate the view of these 5 limestone and marble hills in Da Nang. These mountains are named after the five elements, Kim (gold), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire), and Tho (earth). Get back on the bus. Drop off at Hoi An from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Note: Some roads in Hoi An are blocked one-way, hotels are far from the city center and some roads ban 29-seat vehicles. According to Cham legend, one day a dragon flew to Non Nuoc beach and laid an egg there. After a long time, the egg hatched and a beautiful girl stepped out of the egg. The egg shell was broken into 5 pieces that became the five magical mountains as we see today. In 1825, emperor Minh Mang named this mountain complex Marble Mountains, which means “Ngu Hanh Son” in Vietnamese. Each mountain was named after one of the five elements of Eastern philosophy: metal, water, fire, wood and earth. These names remain unchanged until now, and Marble Mountains have become a natural attraction with many majestic peaks, caves, and temples.
