Hua Hin: Sunset Local Eats Thai Food Tour

7. Hua Hin: Sunset Local Eats Thai Food Tour

Ever wondered how, where and what locals eat at night? This tour is about the evening local food fix; where Thais go for freshly cooked takeaway meals or to eat out. This tour is about getting ‘under the skin’ of the food scene in Hua Hin and exploring where locals go to eat at night. It’s about seeing the freshest local produce in a local food market full of tasty delights. In the market, we will be eating standing up. This way we can move around and sample what the vendors have to offer. We then leave the market and visit two local eateries, finishing up at a street food vendor to sample Thai sweets. Come hungry!! We first start by exploring the fresh ingredients that make up the flavours of Thai food. You will see local chefs and restaurant owners here buying their ingredients for the next day, indicating that the produce is of the highest quality. We then make our way to the front of the market, where there are a myriad of vendors cooking and selling their food. Our passionate ‘foodie’ tour guides will guide you through the market; sampling as we go. In this true local market, we will taste whatever we find that looks good on the day, as not all vendors are there every day. Taste Northeastern pork sausages, Sai Krok Isaan, the way the locals eat them, try northern food at a very popular food stall as well as sampling some unfamiliar but tasty fruits. We then travel to a local eatery where we will sample some great dishes from the central and northern regions. This out of the way garden restaurant serves up some interesting dishes that you may not have had before, but may become your new favourite! Dishes like Yam Naem Khao Thot Fermented Pork Salad w/- Crispy Rice Balls or Khao Soi Gai Chiang Mai Noodles (similar to Laksa). Our next stop is a very local restaurant specialising in Miang Bplaa Phao: Salt Crusted Grilled Fish; we wrap this in lettuce leaves along with lots of herbs. This venue also serves many other Isaan dishes, so we will look to try a vibrant salad or something else from the wonderful world of Isaan food. Our last stop is to a popular sweets vendor. Thai sweets can challenge the senses but are truly delicious and a great way to finish a food tour. Note: This tour is not suitable for strict vegetarians or guests who are vegan. If you have dietary or food restriction you must inform the tour operator upon booking. This is a join in tour and meals/food are shared. If you have a food restriction, you may not get all the advertised food tastes. Note: Sometimes our regular vendors are closed on the day you have a tour booked, however we have other vendors that are equally as good in the event that there are closures.

Hua Hin: Eat Like a Local Thai Food Tour

8. Hua Hin: Eat Like a Local Thai Food Tour

This tour is about showcasing local food heroes; where local Thais love to go and eat. On this 3½ hour tour, your guide will take you off the beaten track. You will try some amazing tasting Thai food in humble surrounds. You will be eating with locals, which just backs up the age-old adage that ‘locals always know where to find the best food in town‘. For this tour, you will experience venues that have a high standard of food hygiene, are family-run with family recipes, yet offer truly 5 star flavours without a 5 star appearance. Your tour begins where locals come to satisfy their appetites to start the day. Under this traditional 2 story Thai house there are 3 generations working. There is a steady stream of hungry customers dropping by for take away, or sitting at the tables slurping freshly made noodles, all this with fresh Nam Prik Pao: Chilli Jam, taking pride of place. It’s in no way fancy, but there’s a reason for its popularity; super tasty food with fast and friendly service! You will stop at a local restaurant to taste dishes from the Isaan region, the NorthEast. This region of Thailand is known for their salads and freshly meats. We also pay a visit to a very local eatery located just opposite Glai Kangwon Palace. This restaurant exclusively serves Northern Thai cuisine. True to the palace’s translated name, Far From Worries, you have no worries to come to try two of the North’s most famous dishes in Khao Soi: Chiang Mai Noodles and Sai Ua: Chiang Mai Sausage. It’s not so easy to find great Northern food outside of the North of Thailand, but here, this woman has been serving up great Northern food for over 20 years. You’ll taste why she has been going so long. We will also squeeze in a stop at a popular area for daytime street food before finishing at a garden restaurant to taste some classic dishes from the central region of Thailand. This tour is great for those who are new to Thailand or love seeing local life. All the food on this tour is a lower to medium spice, though very delicious. However our tour guides are very good at finding great dishes and also spicing it up if you need it. Note: This tour is not suitable for strict vegetarians or for guests who are vegan. If you have a dietary or food restriction you must inform the tour operator upon booking. This is a join in tour and meals/food are shared. If you have a food restriction you may not get all the advertised food tastes. Note: Sometimes our regular vendors are closed on the day you have a tour booked, however we have other vendors that are equally as good in the event that there are closures.
