Hout Bay: Tours & Tickets

We booked this tour last minute primarily to see the cape of good hope, and it exceeded all expectations. The tour guides were excellent, very knowledgeable from start to finish and really keen to impart a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area from start to finish. There was more than sufficient time at each stop along the way and time to see so many points of interest besides the Cape itself. Fantastic lunch recommendation and time to browse around Simonstown during the day too. In particular, Santana, Lucien and Armand really did an outstanding job all day, highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic throughout. Conveniently dropped everyone back to their hotel accommodation afterwards. This was by far the best tour we did during our short trip to CapeTown. I would highly recommend anyone travelling to the area to consider the tour.

We had a great day with our guide who was knowledgeable and friendly. The scenery and views from Chapmans Peak and the drive to Cape Point was fantastic and the boat trip to the fur seals was a nice extra. We also had an outstanding seafood lunch at the Seaforth restaurant at Boulders Bay, though this was much later than usual due to all the things we packed into the day. The only disappointment we that we ran so late we didn’t have time to take the penguins tour at Boulders Bay and had to settle for the public boardwalk which was still ok with close proximity to penguins but we had really set our hearts on the beach front walk here because of our children. Managing the time better would have avoided this disappointment but overall still a recommended tour with much to enjoy.

The tour was very good and we were grateful for our guide who made the journey fun and even squeezed in a trip to Seal Island. The only main issue is the exclusions details. This information should be more prominent as although the ticket to Table Mountain is included, what is not included is entry to the Cape of Hope (303 ZAR for non-SA residents) and Penguin Colony (175 ZAR) this caused some confusion and with advance notification this could be avoided. If possible once the activity is booked there should be confirmation of the additional fees before the trip occurs. All in all the trip was good.

I definitely recommend to visit the spots and we had such a pleasant time with Chris our guide. We did the one way trip which was very pleasant but if I could go back I would have done the visit in 2 days to have maybe the time for a hike.
