we had such a wonderful tour. Alex was so knowledgeable and easy going. everything ran like clock work. We saw whales! and loved how Alex talked about what they look for etc. We also saw porpoises, sea otters (so cute) and seals. The drone footage just ticks it all off...... I would recommend doing this tour above all other's. To see from the sky was just amazing. The boat is very comfortable and spacious with outdoor space to get your own footage. we really do enjoy this experience. memories! thank you Alex and team. (our tour was on 24th June 2025)

Travel out with us to go find Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Otter, Orca, Brown Bears and more on the inland waters of Icy Strait! Our capable Captain Josh will be your guide as he finds you all manner of amazing Alaskan wildlife for you to observe; with a 100% success rate at finding whales, you're in excellent hands. But that's not even the best part of this tour! Not just a captain, Captain Josh is also a certified Drone pilot, and on board we have an extremely powerful and large filmography drone that he will use during the tour while you're watching the whales to film them for you from above! This higher perspective is totally unique to this tour, and you'll be awestruck as you see the whole whale swimming, feeding and diving just below the surface with this feature! Not to distract from the wildlife in front of you, he'll show you what he filmed on board while we move from place to place, and at the end of the tour you'll receive a copy of the footage on a USB drive for you to take home!

A phenomenal area for whale watching, a skilled captain, a comfortable boat that seats a max of 14, and the only drone videos that you can get of your tour in Alaska!

Meeting point

If your ship is at the Adventure Dock, proceed ashore to the Adventure Center. Once inside the Adventure Center walk through the building and exit through door number 2. Follow the signs on the gravel path to the Excursion Hub. The total walking time is 6-8 minutes, please allow extra time if you are not a fast walker. We ask that you check in for your tour 15 minutes early as we leave on time. If your ship is docked at the Wilderness Dock this is a 25 minute walk, or you may ride the Transporter Gondola(3 minute ride) to the Adventure Center. If you walk, once you arrive at Adventure Center follow signs to Excursion Hub. If you take the gondola, once you step off of gondola you should see a sign for the Excursion Hub. Take a left and follow path to the Excursion Hub. We have partnered with Hoonah Travel Adventures for your round trip transport! They will be at the Excursion Hub and have a sign that says Hoonah Travel Adventures. Please check in with them when you arrive at the Hub!

This was a fantastic excursion. They met us near the base of the tram way and put us on their own transportation shuttle to take us to the boat, which was a little bit out of town. We were met by the captain Josh and his assistant Jamie, and left the dock immediately. He said that there was a pod of humpbacks. We found them quickly and spent all of our time following this family group. We also went over to an area where there were many, many sealions lying about in the water and on a large bouy. In a bed of kelp we saw about 100 sea otters in the water. The was an amazing afternoon Watching the animals and learning so much from our captain and his assistant. This tour is fantastic for anyone, but would be very, very helpful for children as looking at the animals from above. The memory stick we were given at the end of our trip really put in perspective, the lives of these beautiful creatures. This was a fantastic day.
