Fly away and spend the day in the lush beauty of Hawaii’s Garden Isle: Kauai. Visit Waimea Canyon with its spectacular vistas and top the day off with a river cruise on the picturesque Wailua River on a flat-bottom boat.
What to Expect
Mark Twain called stunning Kauai the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” for good reason. It was formed by erosion and the collapse of a volcano. Upon arrival in Kauai, board your sightseeing mini-coach and enjoy a magical sightseeing tour. The coach travels down Route 580 and offers gorgeous views of the Wailua River, along which there will be several photo stops.
Ascend 3,400 feet to view Waimea Canyon. This 3,500 foot deep canyon was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale’s summit.
You will drive through Poipu along the gorgeous southern coast. Poipu is a popular resort and home to the Spouting Horn: a unique natural effect occurring when water rushes under the lava shelf and bursts through a small opening on the surface. The wondrous process makes an eerie hissing noise.
The final phase of the tour is a Cruise on the Wailua River. This is the only boat trip in Hawaii and sails you peacefully up the historic and sacred river for 40-minutes in a long, flat bottom boat.
The tour is completely guided and includes time for a no-host lunch.
