What People Are Saying About Hong Kong
We stayed at Kowloon east so we had to make our way to central Kowloon in order to take the trip. Keep this in mind as the Hong Kong traffic is always busy, the metro is a great way to get around. Vincent our guide was superb, he had great knowledge about the areas we visited and really made the tour very personal. He also left us map and gave us some tips about other places to visit and the best wys to do them. You will stop at a jewellery shop which has some nice items. We didnt plan on buying any from the outset, so stick to your guns as the sales people can be pursuasive, but never pushy. The boat trip at Aberdeen is worth doing and really doesnt cost too much. All in all a great few hours out.
The tour is excellent. We paid the extra to ride a crystal cabin and it was worth it. The view is amazing. The scenpgraphy "town" with shows a la Dosney seemed grotesque to me, but fortunately our guide, Becky, took us directly to the monastery and shared with us a lot of knowleg and insight. The viosit to the Tai O village was great, specially the 500 years old taoist temple, walking the streets and the boat tour to watch the pink dolphins. Dinner at the Tai O Heritage was just good, but the place is superb. The small stop on the way back to feel the sand and the sea at a beach at night and see the stars was a very good closing.
I liked the variety and the guide was entertaining and informative. However, the optional sampan tour was not very interesting. If one chose not to buy the tour, I saw nothing around to do. It's not so much a visit to Aberdeen, as a visit to an extra price boat ride.
