Experience

Highlights
  • Visit the ancient kingdom of My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Marvel at the beautiful Hinduism-inspired temples and learn how they came to exist in a Buddhist country
  • Watch a fantastic Cham ceremony performance practised for centuries
Full description
The adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Hoi An then travels the 50 km journey to the captivating Cham temples of My Son Sanctuary. A must-see for history buffs, the sanctuary dates back from the 4th to the 13th century and owes its spiritual origins to the Hinduism of India. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of the temples and learn about the site's headless statues, whose upper bodies are currently on display behind glass at The Louvre in Paris. Unlike a half-day tour, this full-day experience allows you plenty of time to explore the complex and see everything that the sanctuary has to offer. After your tour of the temple, stop by a local restaurant for a traditional lunch to replenish your energy. Later, enjoy an incredible cultural performance practiced by the Cham people for many centuries. At the end of an unforgettable day, sit back and relax on the return journey to your hotel in Hoi An.

Nhung was an attentive guide who was helpful to tour with. She provided time as a guided tour and space for self-guided exploration as well. I did have trouble understanding her English pronunciation many times, which required clarifying what was said.

Guide and driver were great. Nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. Sanctuary itself was interesting and beautiful. BUT.... spent too much time on the road and not enough time at sanctuary itself. There is a tour from Da Nang to My Son as well as a tour from Hoi An to My Son. We were coming from Hoi An. Why did we have to go pick up another person in Da Nang? Just made for a lot of time spent on the road that could have been better spent at My Son. Still, overall good tour and again driver and guide did a great job. Thanks!

The guided tour to My Son Sanctuary was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The Sanctuary is an amazing historical monument, ancient human masterpiece deep in the beautiful nature. During the tour I was able to see a Cultural Ceremony which was also very interesting and learn a lot about Vietnamese culture and religion. The tour had a perfect pace and I was able to enjoy everything as much as I desired. One of the highlights of the trip was the guide - very knoledgeable and educated man with deep passion for history. He knew everything about the My Son Sanctuary and shared a lot about history of this place. He was able to answer all my questions and talk with me about culture. I learned a lot not only about history of My Son but also about history of Vietnam. He was also very kind and friendly and his English was perfect. I highly recommend this tour.
