From Hoi An: My Son Sunrise Tour

Incredible early morning tour with Truong today! We were the very first people in the sanctuary and only saw a few others when we were leaving. It was breathtaking to be there in the cool of the day with the whole place to yourself filled with butterflies. It is an easy walk with very few steps (steps only in and out of temples). Truong has been a guide to My Son for 10 years and his expertise shows - he knows everything about the site and walks you through each monument and then leaves you to some free time to explore. Some things to note: bring insect spray and cash for the entrance fee. Trust him when he says the early morning tour is worth the early wake up. Just incredible!

Sunrise tour is such a good idea! The place is very hot and humid with little breeze so I can’t imagine doing it during the heat of the day. We were the first people to arrive and only saw one other group while we were walking around, but there were lots arriving when we were finishing. I assumed this would be like other places where everyone has the same idea to go early, but it really was super quiet at this time. The guide was awesome and really funny. His English was great and he was knowledgeable about the place. The breakfast was tasty, but no vegetarian option. This didn’t impact us, but just something to note - not the guides fault though!
