Vienna's Hofburg Palace ranks among the most popular tourist attraction in Austria, offering a window into the life and customs of the illustrious Habsburg family. Here are 5 fascinating facts to give you a taste of what awaits within its majestic walls.
The Hofburg Palace has been the home of countless Austrian rulers over the centuries. Today, it's the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria.
The gigantic palace comprises 18 wings and more than 2,000 different rooms. Due to the centuries of expansion, different architectural styles come together in a stunning ensemble.

The popular silver collection exhibits 7,000 objects that were necessary for running the imperial household, giving fascinating insight into the dining culture of the emperors.
Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi, is the most beloved of all Austrian empresses. She was honored with her own museum, which is one of the Hofburg's most popular attractions.
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra regularly performs in the Hofburg Palace's sumptuous halls. Classical music lovers shouldn't miss out on this singular experience. Note that tickets for the concerts must be booked in advance.

If you loved the Hofsburg Palace, don't miss out on the equally spectacular Schönbrunn Palace, the Habsburg's summer residence, also located in Vienna.
We visited the stables after we had seen the show, there was a wait in the main entrance where other people were also queuing up for other events so it got busy at times. We were grouped with a good English speaking guide and taken into the arena and then around the main stable block, we were asked NOT to take photos and were only permitted to in the tack room. We were able to see the horses feed in their individual stables and the guide gave us a brief commentary about the horses answering questions as we walked through, you kind of got the feeling that we were in the way as the grooms were trying to go about their daily routine with groups of people standing around. Under no circumstances were you allowed to touch the horses, but the experience overall was interesting and informative.
This was a three hour ride around central Vienna. The guide stopped at many of the city's significant sites and gave us a great overview of historical Vienna and today's Vienna. Her explanations were both understandable and entertaining. The pace of the ride was easy, and the guide made sure that no one was left behind. Much of the ride was on dedicated bike lanes or where there was little car traffic, so there was never any feeling of being unsafe. It did rain while we were on the tour, but the guide had us take shelter in a little cafe on the Judenplatz where we had hot drinks. Luckily the rain subsided after about 15 minutes and we were on our way. My wife and I agree that this bike tour was a highlight of our time in Vienna.
My entire family loved Marieta and her walking tour of the city. Vienna is a beautiful city, and her insight was a five star performance. Every building she provided an excellent description of it’s history. Both my wife and mother in law love roses, and when she took through the park, the roses left them both speechless. She could not have planned a better tour. Marieta is gracious, professional and every family that tours Vienna should request her. We thank her one last time for the tour of a lifetime.
We were the only two on this mornings tour and had our guides attention most of the time. A lovely place with lots of noteable poinrts shown and explained clearly. An early start meant less tourists, always nicer and cooler too. Highly recommend this tour.
We enjoyed the Hop on, Hop off buses in Vienna. We used both the red and the blue line. The commentary was clear and gave a good overall view of the history of Vienna.
