The trip fulfilled the requirement on time and without hitch. I do have an issue with the booking process. I booked online identifying that we wished to be picked up at the Old Woolstore Hotel. I was told that the Old Woolstore was no longer a pick up point but we could be picked up nearby at ‘ATM No1 McQuarrie St.’ There is no ATM near No 1 McQuarrie St! No 1 McQuarrie St is the address of the Old Woolstore Hotel!!! There was an e-mail address on the confirmation for the local provider whom I contacted but got no reply! I ended up telephoning the local provider who confirmed that the pickup point was in fact- the Old Woolstore Hotel! We were picked up as arranged but why the confusion on this website. I suggest booking directly with the local provider and cutting out the middleman who created all the confusion with their inaccurate confirmation.

A fantastic trip with the knowledgeable Mark who gave a lot of insight into Port Arthur as a convict colony, with so much more information over and above what I knew. His memory of all his passengers by name within a very short time was very impressive and made us all very comfortable on the trip.

Ideal for those not driving

Shuttle bus arrived on time at the location specified (7.50 am pick-up, right behind our hotel so very convenient). It was a rocketing drive to Port Arthur (so quite bumpy in places/suspension not 100%). However, we sat towards the middle of the bus on our return trip to Hobart and that seemed to solve some of the bumpiness experienced on our first drive. I thought we had until 1.30 pm to look around Port Arthur but the driver said that we needed to be back at the bus by 12.40 pm. I was disappointed initially because it meant we missed out on seeing all of the site; however, the bus driver made 2 unplanned stops on the way back to Hobart, allowing us to see some beautiful parts of the peninsula that we wouldn't have known about/seen. That was a real bonus - thank you!!
