This was a brilliant day despite the weather. Mike and Tamsin could not have been better and worked hard to make everything come together. Mike’s knowledge and passion for Maria Island and it’s environment shone through all day. When the weather made it difficult to get onto the island, Mike and Tamsin did all they could to ensure everyone arrived safely and dry and then ensured an easy trip home by organising alternate transport. The two hours on the island were probably not enough, but We were very happy with this considering how fascinating the island circumnavigation proved. An absolutely terrific day and thanks to everyone involved.

Full description

Set off on a day trip from Hobart and visit stunning Maria Island. Head to Triabunna from Hobart before you board a boat and cruise along the east coast of Tasmania and Maria Island. Listen to commentary on board, enjoy lunch, and explore the island and its history.


Begin with morning pickup from Brooke St. Pier in Hobart and drive to Triabunna. Check in for the cruise before you set sail. Admire the landscapes of Tasmania's east coast and the diverse geography of Maria Island which includes waterfalls, secluded bays, sea caves, and beaches of pure white sand. 


Listen to commentary on your way to Riedle and Shoal Bay at Maria Island's isthmus where you will drop anchor for lunch. In the afternoon, dock at Darlington and take a guided tour of the historic convict buildings, learn about the town's past, and meet the resident wombats.

Far exceeded expectations. The Boat owner/skipper Mike and Guide Rachel make a great team. The boat is ideal for the trip being fast, stable, a choice of inside or outside seating and the perfect platform for such a trip. The geological features are amazing even for those with little or no knowledge of such things; all brought to life by the enthusiastic skipper. The history and wildlife on the shore landing stunning. Good food and drinks available on board as are waterproof suits for any that require them. An all round excellent day out.
