Spend a half day learning about Australia's native animals and history. Visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for close-up experiences of Australian animals, and spend time in Richmond, a Georgian-style village resplendent with mellow stone cottages. Your tour begins with a visit to Constitution Dock and the ABC buildings, Hobart's original sandstone railway station. Then head out on the Brooker Highway toward Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Once there, spend time getting warm and friendly with a Tasmanian devil! Take a guided tour and learn the habits of native animals. See quolls, wombats, sugar gliders, koalas, cockatoos, echidnas, kangaroos, wallabies, and more. Next, visit Richmond, one of Australia's most unique and historic towns. Bonorong is excellent. We got to hand feed kangaroos and saw the devils. Richmond is kind of a waste of time. We had a drink and listened to the guy playing a harp. He was excellent. The sound system on the bus wasn’t working so we had no commentary. The driver was very nice.

Pick up was on time and our lovely driver gave us a very informative talk enroute to Richmond where we had a good hour to explore before going onto Bonorong Wildlife Park. Enjoyed the day immensely but being an animal lover, my highlight was Bonorong. Feeding the kangaroos, meeting two baby wombats, mischievous Tasmanian Devils and the endearing echidnas. Highly recommend this to anybody.

It's a basic set up and if it was just about the displays would be ranked poor. BUT, when you find out it's a fully volunteer and self funded wildlife rescue operation, staffed 24/7 to co ordinate the saving, healing and rehabilitating injured animals back into the wild, you realise just how much they do and deserve every dollar of their entry fee, plus more if you can afford it.
