Full description

Enjoy a performance of fascinating Vietnamese art during a traditional 45-minute water puppet show. The stories told with water puppets are closely associated with the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, especially in the countryside. The stage for the show is the surface of a water pool. Puppeteers demonstrate their clever skills by managing puppets with long bamboo rods and a string mechanism under the surface of the water. A traditional Vietnamese orchestra provides musical accompaniment. The puppets act out the stories told by the songs, which reflect the peaceful life of the Vietnamese countryside.

Age 4: the tiger chasing the ducks was so funny!! Age 9: the instruments and music was great! Mum & Dad: although we couldn’t understand the language the stories in the mini acts was so well told we could easily discern what was happening. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire production, it was very professionally executed. A do not miss activity when in Ho Chi Minh especially if you have children! Both kids raved about how great it was! Cons: other audience members trying to film and photograph and holding phones up so they could see personally and then blocking the people behind. Also that behaviour is just plan old bad theatre etiquette really, if you want photos wait until after the production.
