What to Expect
Explore Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) by “cyclo” (traditional rickshaw), and experience the winding streets of the historic metropolis from a local perspective.
Following a pick-up from your hotel, spend the first half of the day riding the roads by 3-wheeled bike. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of Saigon from the cyclo carriage as your driver pedals you to Tao Dan Park and the War Remnants Museum. See military equipment from the Vietnam War, before going to Reunification Palace, previously known as the “Presidential Palace.” Learn about the South Vietnamese surrender of 30 April 1975.
Climb off your cyclo and walk to the ornate façade of Notre Dame Cathedral. Along the way, discover the local markets and immerse yourself in local life. See one of the finest examples of French colonial architecture at the General Post Office.
Continue by cyclo to the Opera House and City Hall in Ho Chi Minh City center. Pass the Continental Hotel, where Graham Greene and other famous writers used to hang out. Next, leave your cyclo at the intersection of Ton That Dam Street and Huynh Thuc Khang Street, and dive into a vibrant food market.
Practice your haggling skills at Ben Thanh Market, from where you are free to continue exploring on your own, or transfer back to your hotel with the help of your guide.
