After dark Ho Chi Minh City trades its hectic business pace for a different kind of energy. Experience the diversions on offer after sunset, from opera house performances to swinging jazz at the city’s hottest jazz clubs. Enjoy Vietnamese cuisine as well.
What to Expect
The first stop on your night out in Ho Chi Minh’s center is an early evening dinner at Hoa Tuc Restaurant, where you’ll be served delectable Vietnamese cuisine.
Your 4-hour tour continues as you take a stroll down Dong Khoi Street, past iconic landmarks such as the Saigon Opera House, the former Hôtel De Ville, dating from 1908, and the Rex Hotel where the 5 O’clock Follies took place each day during the American War, as it is known in Vietnam.
After your meal there’s the possible option (depending on availability and at additional charge) of taking in a performance at the Saigon Opera House. Built in 1911, its architecture was influenced by the flamboyant style of the French Third Republic. The façade of the Opera House was designed to resemble the Petit Palais, which was built in France the same year.
Follow your guide to one of the city’s hopping jazz clubs where Vietnamese and foreign musicians regularly jam into the wee hours.
