Full description

Discover the verdant beauty of the Mekong Delta on a day trip from Ho Chi Minh city. Travel in an air-conditioned minivan or bus and board a motorboat for a ride through islands on the Tien River. Enjoy a local lunch in an orchard and ride a rowboat under coconut trees on the Bao Dinh canal.

Depart from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel and head to the Mekong Delta by minivan or bus. Pass by green rice fields before arriving at the beautiful rural My Tho. Along the way, visit the Vinh Trang pagoda, the biggest pagoda in the Mekong delta.

Go by motorized boat on the Tien River to the Qui (Tortoise islet). See the fishing port, boat-building workshops, and the Dragon, Phoenix, and Unicorn Islet.

Walk into the village, where you can visit a local fruit garden and enjoy the tropical fruit while listening to Southern Vietnamese folk music performed by islanders. Join in the daily activities that the locals do and take in the atmosphere of this beautiful natural countryside.

Visit the bee house, and take a picture of the pythons. Lunch will be served right in the heart of the orchard garden.

The boat cruise will lead you through the Bao Dinh canal, entering Ben Tre province — the land of coconuts. Here you'll see a typical agricultural model called "Garden – Pond – Cage” before visiting the coconut candy-making shop.

Next, enjoy a rowing boat trip on the small canal, fully covered by the shadow of the water coconut trees. After your boat ride, take a bike ride around the island before returning to the bus.

Lan (Unicorn) was an excellent guide and gave us lots of useful information about the History of Vietnam as well as the region we were visiting! He went out of his way to make sure our onward journey was booked before we left the tour!! The tour itself was very good - although the sampan through the ‘coconut forest’ was extremely disappointing. It was right between a road and industrial buildings and not a coconut tree in sight! If that is your main motivation for going (it was mine) then I would think twice!!!

It is value for money. Tour guide was nice and able to live up the mood and joke around. Tour guide had done his best to guide us and provided information but when at coconut candy place, he was busy helping the shop owner selling their stuff (I'm not surprised he may have a cut on the commission) that he overlooked about the snake alcohol drinks that he supposed to bring us. End up the queue for the snake drinks was overtaken by another tour group and we spent longer time at the shop which is actually around 1.30pm and is considered past lunch time. For this, he has to improve on keeping watch on our meal time.

This tour offers great value for money, although it is a bit rushed because it packs a lot into the day. Taking a rowboat on Unicorn Island along the river, with palm trees overhead, was so nice and peaceful. I also enjoyed trying to bike on Phoenix Island after lunch.
