Visit Ho Chi Minh City, the dynamic metropolis at the heart of southern Vietnam. A cultural trendsetter, this city is steeped in wartime and colonial history. Tour the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, and the Cu Chi tunnels.
What to Expect
This full-day tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel. Your first stop is the Reunification Palace, the former palace of President Thieu and his predecessors.
Today the building is a museum and venue for official receptions. You can visit the private rooms of the president, the War Room, which was the operations center for the South Vietnamese armed forces, and, most poignantly, the room where the North Vietnamese army finally took control in 1975.
Nearby are the Post Office and the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral. The cathedral was built between 1877 and 1883 and is one of the city’s major landmarks. Neo-Romanesque in form, Notre Dame is the major seat of the Catholic religion in modern Vietnam.
Continue on to the War Remnants Museum, where you’ll learn about the Vietnam War in detail. Afterwards you’ll have a break and enjoy a lunch of Vietnamese delicacies.
In the afternoon you’ll visit the Jade Emperor Temple, one of the oldest Chinese temples in Saigon. Your final stop will be Ben Thanh market, where all sorts of goods are on offer.
