What to Expect
Explore the historic center of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and see the Cu Chi Tunnels on a full-day combined sightseeing tour with lunch.
Drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 24 miles (40 kilometers) from the city center. On arrival, explore the network of tunnels and rooms, built in 1949 by Vietnamese guerillas. A part of the subterranean system has been widened so that you can experience how the Viet Cong lived during the Vietnam War.
Following an early lunch at a local restaurant, return to the heart of Ho Chi Minh City and visit the War Remnants Museum, where artifacts are presented in displays of photos, firearms, military vehicles, and documentary films.
Continue to the Reunification Palace (Independence Palace), former residence of Indochina’s governor, and later used as the offices of South Vietnam’s governor. Learn about the Fall of Saigon when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates in 1975.
End at the French built Notre Dame Cathedral, a beautiful neo-Gothic building with twin bell towers. Then, marvel at the Saigon Central Post Office, with its neo-classical façade and gorgeous Deco interior.
