Experience a full-day eco-adventure in the mangrove forests of the UNESCO-listed Can Gio Biosphere Reserve. Spot monkeys, feed the crocodiles, and paddle a small boat on the bat lagoon, in the dimly lit world that’s home to rare flora and fauna.
What to Expect
On your full-day journey from Ho Chi Minh City you’ll travel through scenic canals, enter the Mekong Delta, and stop at a local riverside market to absorb the colors, sounds, and aromas of this fertile region.
Life seems slow paced here, with agriculture still the dominant industry. The landscape is a tapestry of verdant paddy fields, still pools, and groves of exotic fruits, all fed by the life-giving waters of the Mekong River.
When you leave the leafy palms and coconut trees of the Mekong behind you’ll become enveloped in a dimly lit world, surrounded by towering mangrove trees that provide a habitat for over 200 animal species and more than 52 species of plants.
See villagers hand-knotting nets before spreading them out to dry in the sun at a local fishing hamlet. Spot monkeys and gibbons swinging through the trees at Vam Sat. Feed the crocodiles at the crocodile reserve and paddle on the still waters of the bat lagoon in a small wooden boat.
In the morning you’ll enjoy a breakfast of pastries, fresh fruits, and Vietnamese coffee. Vietnamese specialties such as spring rolls, lemongrass chicken, and fried elephant ear fish will be served for lunch. Vegetarian and halal meals are also available on request.
