What to Expect
Explore the Mekong Delta by bike and witness the enchanting bustle of Vietnamese village life. See the laborious cottage industries, busy floating markets, tranquil country lanes, and the extravagant architecture of the Khmer temples.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be (approx. 35km)

Meet at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh before transferring to Cai Lay. Ride the back roads to Cai Be where you'll take a boat-trip and visit creators of traditional Vietnamese sweets and snacks who make coconut candy, rice-paper, and pop-rice. Enjoy lunch on an island before continuing onto a local home-stay that's run by a lovely retired couple. They live in a typical Mekong delta household with airy rooms and an outdoor kitchen. You'll have a free evening with dinner prepared by your hosts.

Day 2: Cai Be – Tra Vinh (approx. 60km)

After breakfast at the home-stay, take another short boat trip to Vinh Long, a town famous for its fruit. Bike along narrow country lanes and rustic dirt tracks. Witness the colorful life along the riverside: pass picturesque delta homes and tiny orchards, clack across innumerable wooden bridges, and stop to chat with the friendly villagers. Cross narrow canals on a traditional Sampan boat. Then take the main ferry across the expansive Co Chien River. Ride the final few kilometers to the pretty Khmer town of Tra Vinh, where you'll be given plenty of time to explore before spending the night at a local hotel.

Day 3: Travinh – Can Tho (approx. 80km)

Admire the fascinating regional architecture and Khmer temples on the longest cycle of the tour. The route does, nevertheless, provide for a very easygoing journey. The roads are narrow, peaceful, and pretty all the way to Can Tho. See the magnificent lotus flowers of Ba Om Pond, and observe local women having their futures read at a nearby temple. On some days you'll also be able to visit a local Buddhist temple school before your arrival in Can Tho – the Mekong's largest town, situated at the confluence of the Can Tho and Hau Giang rivers.

Day 4: Can Tho – Saigon (approx. 30km)

Boat to the Cai Rang floating market and then ride to another market at Phong Dien. Weave through the teeming early morning market crowds along the banks of the lively riverfront. See the endless cottage industries en route, including timber merchants, coconut shredders, rice merchants, and vibrant market stalls. Continue along the narrow lanes onto the main road to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The tour ends with the return to your Ho Chi Minh hotel.
