1. Heraklion: CRETAquarium Admission Ticket

Venture into the ocean’s depth with a 1-day admission ticket to the CRETAquarium. One of Europe’s largest aquariums, over 2,000 sea creatures lice the CRETAquarium's 60 diverse habitats. Delve into the caves and crevices of the Mediterranean, where stingrays and rock-like scorpionfish slither about. Pop out into the open ocean, where menacing sharks circle, waiting to be fed. Get up close and personal with jellyfish and schools of vibrant tropical clownfish through shallow, open-topped tanks, which allow a new viewing perspective of well known species.  Above all, gain a new appreciation for the unending diversity of the world’s most mystifying environment. When you’ve had your fill of looking at the ocean’s residents, why not pop in for a dip? The CRETAquarium is, fittingly, right on the beach.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The aquariums are lovingly designed and well signposted. The AudioGuide is highly recommended to find out more information about the animals. We got the tickets online in advance. Even so, there was a queue of almost an hour. But it was certainly due to the fact that the weather in Heraklion was rainy and the beach holidaymakers were looking for an alternative.

Gorgeous large widescreen screens. You can see practically everything that is not hidden in the reef or crevices. Beautiful fish and shark. The swimming turtles were a big surprise. I recommend it to everyone.

This is a sensational place! Seeing fish swimming freely in a very naturalistic environment was spectacular!! Very informative and rather magical.

Audio guide not absolutely necessary, fish written in many languages. Nice aquarium, highly recommended for children and adults!
