Full description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Helsinki on a half-day hike of the Sipoonkorpi National Park, and learn more about Finnish nature from a biologist guide. Transfer from Helsinki to Sipoonkorpi (just 25 kilometers from the city center) by public transport. On arrival, hike in wild coniferous forest, following a professional biologist guide who will tell you about Finnish nature and take you to curious geological formations hidden in the depth of the forest. Established to protect endangered animal and plant species of the taiga forest, Sipoonkorpi National Park also features traditional farmlands from the 13th century, numerous forest types, mires, bogs, and several small lakes. Hike the rugged terrain for approximately 3-3.5 hours as your guide explains how it was formed by the Ice Age thaw. In primeval times, the area was covered by sea and glaciers that ground the rocky shores to form unusual rock formations, now completely hidden in the wild forest. Hear about - and see - the “Trolls” or “Giants' Kettles.” Go to some of the park’s picturesque lakes, and more.

Fantastic!

Sipoonkorpi National park is, especially during winter, quite poorly marked with regards to trails. Already because of that, going with Mikhail on a tour comes highly recommended! We went on this hike together with another couple we hadn't met prior to the tour (making 5 people in total). From Mikhail we heard that such 'large' groups are very uncommon, but we still enjoyed it thoroughly. Mikhail is very knowledgeable on all flora, fauna, and also on all the glacier-rocks scattered about. Mikhail is a good conversationalist and will make sure you will enjoy your hike. He can also provide good tips on what to do in Helsinki to make your stay as enjoyable as possible!

Beautiful hike would have been impossible to find without guide.

I'm so glad I booked this tour. I thought about exploring the park on my own but there is no way I could have found it on my own. The trails weren't marked too well and there was no where to pick up a map so going with BioGeo Traveller is a must. The hike itself was beautiful and I'm so glad I got to go outside the city for a bit. The guide was great with my toddler so you can do a family friendly hike or something much more intensive of you wish.

The walking pace was good and I enjoyed it very much. Since the temperature has already dropped to below zero in this season, it is necessary to take measures against cold. It takes about 45 minutes by public bus and walks 3 to 4 hours in the natural park.
