Dating back to the medieval period, it is the oldest square of the city and has existed since the inception of the city. You will see the town hall as well as the Church of the Holy Spirit here. Stroll on the Karl-Theodor Bridge, the arched-shaped Old Bridge which spans the Neckar river. Over a period of more than 700 years there have been 9 bridges constructed on this site. The current bridge was constructed in 1788 by Elector Charles Theodore. It is one of the famous landmarks in Heidelberg where you can also see the beautiful views of the hillsides which surround the city. You will have the chance to picture yourself along with the Old bridge gate which is towards the southern end of the bridge. Experience the Philosopher’s trail which is located on the Northern banks of the Neckar river. It is said that many Philosophers and Artists throughout history have walked on this romantic path offering them solitude. Here, you can see views of the beautiful Old town, the Neckar river and the Heidelberg Castle. Get to see the corn market which is a very popular square in Heidelberg from where you can see spectacular views of the Heidelberg castle standing in its background. Mark Twain, the famous American writer is said to have visited this market in 1874 during one of his visits to Heidelberg. Finally, You will visit the Heidelberg Schloss which dates back to even before 1214. Struck by lightning, damaged by fire, the Castle still stands today and is a very famous landmark in Heidelberg and a very popular castle in Germany. Prince Elector Ruprecht III is known to be the first royal to have resided here. Within the cellars of the Heidelberg Castle you will find the Heidelberg Tun, which is the world's largest wine barrel and can store about 58000 gallons of wine.

We take advantage of the best light of the day at the golden hour before sunset and experience the dawning blueness of the night in the blue hour with the most beautiful views of the historic center of Heidelberg with the world-famous castle, the Old Bridge, the Heiliggeistkirche and the Neckar Valley. Stroll with an experienced photographer along the Philosophenweg to the historic alleyways of the old town and let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere. This photo walk gives you the opportunity to take breathtaking pictures of famous sights such as Heidelberg Castle and the Old Bridge. Take your time to capture the beauty of the city, discover unknown motifs and new perspectives and capture unforgettable memories. The Heidelberg Photo Walk - Sunset is an unforgettable experience for all photography enthusiasts. The photo walk starts and ends at Neuenheimer Marktplatz (Ladenburger Straße 21, 69120 Heidelberg). The tour takes about four hours, so that you have plenty of time to take photos of all the motifs and can try out your own creative ideas under expert guidance. We start about two hours before sunset to capture the best light in the old town. The walk is approx. 5 km long and includes some steep ascents and descents. You are also welcome to book the Heidelberg Photo Walk - Private Tour, in which we can tailor the route to your individual needs and only use flat paths. We can safely store any luggage for you at the start and finish points. There is also a toilet available at the start and finish - but not on the way. Equipment: Bring your camera, which you feel comfortable with and are familiar with. You can capture the most beautiful sides of Heidelberg with a good cell phone camera as well as with an SLR camera with interchangeable lenses. Ideally, you should have a camera on which you can set the aperture and shutter speed manually and which can cover a focal length range from wide-angle to telephoto (ideally 16 mm - 200 mm, but many pictures can also be taken at a medium focal length range). A tripod is useful for taking long exposures during the blue hour or to calm the Neckar water. A tripod with a ball head can also be borrowed for the tour. A small flashlight or, if available, a headlamp is also recommended. Please bring comfortable, suitable footwear and weatherproof clothing for the tour and, if you wish, food and drink.
