With the card you can also use public transport for free. The HeidelbergCARD allows you to ride on the city’s VRN metro buses, trams, and authorized trains - 2nd-class seats on Deutsche Bahn: Regional-Express, Regionalbahn, and S-Bahn - in the greater Heidelberg area, or “Wabe 125” fare zone, during the period shown.

Please collect your card from the tourist information office at Heidelberg Main Station. You will also receive your Heidelberg guide with a city map. Opening hours of the office are April-October: Monday-Saturday from 10 AM-5 PM, Sundays and public holidays from 10 AM-3 PM; November-December: Monday-Saturday from 10 AM-5 PM, Advent Sundays 10 AM-3 PM, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve 10 AM-2 PM, and closed on other Sundays and public holidays.

Know before you go

The ticket to Heidelberg Castle includes a roundtrip cable car ride to Molkenkur (via the castle) as well as single entrance to the castle grounds with the barrel cellar, and a visit to the German Pharmacy-Museum

If you are coming from the train main station, the travel information office is just right outside the station which is very convenient to pick-up your Heidelberg cards. The included funicular ticket is great specially if the day gets busy because you do not need to fall in line to purchase a ticket, you just go straight to the turnstile and swipe your ticket.
