Each major Hawaiian island has a nickname, and Oahu’s moniker of “The Gathering Place” works on multiple levels. It’s the most populated island in Hawaii, and it’s also a hotspot for visitors with beaches that look like the textbook definition of paradise, such as Lanikai Beach, and historical sites that make you pause and reflect, like the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. As if there wasn’t enough for your itinerary already, watching a sunrise is another spectacular activity that doesn’t have to cost a dime.

Hawaii is renowned for its laid-back, sea-centric lifestyle and epic beaches. While surfing is the most popular sport in these seas, kayaking in Hawaii is a unique way to explore beyond the waves. The wide range of beaches and rivers across the islands means there are places for every kayaking skill level.

Gentle winds replace summer’s humidity as winter in Hawaii brings many activities beyond snorkeling and lying on the beach. As the islands’ peak travel season, this time of year brings a host of exciting experiences, from stargazing on Mauna Kea to watching pro surfers tackle Pipeline’s legendary waves.
The best islands in Hawaii each have their own charm, and if you’re looking for volcanic adventures on Big Island, a road trip along Maui’s Road to Hana, or simple beach days when most of the northern hemisphere is bundled up, this guide has all the best things to do in Hawaii in winter.

Everyone loves an island vacation at any time of year, but there’s something special about spring in Hawaii. During this season, the Aloha State settles into a calmer, more relaxed rhythm between the high seasons of summer and winter.
Have a postcard-worthy beach day in perfect weather at Waikiki, or spend a sun-filled day cruising past scenic, rainforest views on the Road to Hana, a requirement on any Maui itinerary. Discover the best things to do with this spring guide to Hawaii.

What people are saying about Hawaii
Overall rating
I recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by joining this Dolphins tour, and it was amazing! Captain Stefan and the team were incredibly experienced, guiding us to see dolphins while sharing fascinating insights about different species. We even spotted a rare species, which was a thrilling highlight. Learning the Hawaiian prayer for the sea added a beautiful cultural touch to the experience. Overall, this tour exceeded my expectations and is a must for anyone dreaming of swimming with dolphins!
Really enjoyed the hosts, they were outstanding! Water was beautiful, great boat. Would have liked to see a little more sea life. Overall an amazing day out on the water.
