What people are saying about Havana
Jesus my driver was a nice guy but he had hardly any English so communication was a bit difficult. Fortunately, Marilyn my guide at Viñales spoke good English. The tour started with a horse ride to a place where I learned about cigar production (and smoked one), as well as coffee bean, rum and honey production; all very interesting. I had a tasty lunch at a finca with locally grown food, although I thought it was far too much for one person; the views here were spectacular. Next came a boat trip in an underground cave, a visit to a gigantic, brightly-coloured, mural depicting prehistoric animals, and a visit to a botanic garden containing many varieties of flowers and fruit. I was impressed with this tour because I saw some beautiful countryside and saw how different products are made, and the local people were very friendly. I would have preferred if the tour was just a bit shorter; I didn't leave Viñales until nearly 6pm and there was still a long journey ahead of me.
It was an excellent experience, especially the visit to the tobacco plantation and the lunch at this beautiful location where locals served their farm grown food. Our driver was great, but neither he or the guide could speak English very well and we did book an English speaking tour. Thank God for Alex at the Tobacco Farm who was able to translate things for us.
