Full description

Step aboard and step back in time… Join for an enchanting Hawaiian history lesson from the experts on Kona’s one and only Historical Sunset Dinner Cruise. This 3-hour family adventure departing from the Kailua Pier is narrated by a local historian tour guide, who will reveal secrets, tell stories, and share legends related to the numerous landmarks along the 12 miles of magnificent Kona coastline. Unwind to Captain Cook’s Monument at Historical Kealakekua Bay (only accessible by boat or hiking) with a complimentary cocktail from a fully stocked, premium bar.

Begin your delicious dinner starting with a Mauna Loa Big Island Macadamia Nuts (Vegan/GF) appetizer. Enjoy a salad starter of Kealaola Farm mixed salad greens, Waimea grape tomatoes, Japanese cucumber, and red onion (Vegan/GF), served with a papaya seed vinaigrette dressing (Vegan/GF). Choose your main course from a selection of Thai coconut curry with Hamakua sweet potatoes, Hawaiian breadfruit, carrots, and bell peppers (Vegan/GF), or steamed jasmine rice (Vegan/GF) with Kiawe mango barbecue pork short ribs served with a papaya salsa (GF) and island baked coconut dinner rolls served with butter (Vegetarian). Your dessert is a cheesecake with a local Lilikoi glaze (Vegetarian). Keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and seasonal humpback whales throughout the evening. Enjoy live music from some of the Big Island's best entertainers performing slack key Hawaiian Style music. Catch the sunset on the water and make sure to look for the famous Green Flash, a fleeting glimmer of intense emerald light that appears on the horizon just after sunset. Everything about this experience is well worth the money! The meeting point says 4:00, but they do send you a text reminder that you need to meet at 3:30, and the boat leaves at 4. That was a little stressful because we didn’t know that until 3:40 and they were calling us and wondering where we were at. HOWEVER, the staff, the food, the view, and everything else, was amazing. The staff really made sure you were having a good time and the live music was great too! 10/10 would recommend! The only thing I would change was the meeting time because if you miss it, you miss the experience and your money.

Crew was Great! Food was good but I’m picky so others probably loved it. It was partially cloudy but the sunset turned out to be beautiful and the clouds caused a rainbow to appear on shore. The only downside was there were no Dolphins or other sea creatures to be seen. If you have any doubts about motion sickness please premedicate. Other than that it was a good time.

Nice tour with an unpleasant beginning

The boat trip was very nice, unfortunately we almost missed the boat ... In my confirmation, the meeting point was 4 p.m. at the organizer's office, we were there shortly beforehand, the lady there then sent us down to the boat harbor, we already looked from furthermore that the boat was very full and shortly before we reached it the gangway was already pulled in ..., we could just prevent it. Now we, 4 people, had to sit down separately and that meant the start of this excursion was very bad ...
