Traditional craft villages were founded for a long time. Each village is a cultural address, reflecting its own original features. In the densely populated countryside of the Red River Delta, local production system is in the process of being modernized.
What to Expect
8:00 am: Depart to the south of Hanoi to visit the village of Van Phuc Silk

Located along the Nhue river, the village has been much well known for its traditional sericulture, weaving, and silk products. Tourists coming here are lured by various beautiful shirts, crafts, ties, dresses and many other things made of silk available in the village. What is special is that the silk is made by very simple looms, which is the genuinely traditional Vietnamese way of making silk.

Continue visiting the village of Duyen Thai lacquer factory. Not far from the village Van Phuc, the village is well-known for their wide range of lacquerware products, villagers have been engaged in the lacquerware industry for many years and the range of quality products available here are testament to this. Bowls, jewellery boxes and toothpick holders are just some of them.

Back to Hanoi for lunch.

In the afternoon departure to the east to reach the Dong Ky Village in Bac Ninh province. Dong Ky is well-known for its craft of making things of wood with high artistic sophistication. The whole village, in the day-time is full of sawing and chiselling sounds. The main articles made there are furniture of high quality: tables, chairs, cupboards and ornate beds.

Not far from the village is the Ky Dong Dinh Bang village. The village was the native place of Ly Cong Uan (or King Ly Thai To) - founder of the Ly Dynasty (1010-1225) and Thang Long Capital (present - day Hanoi) (1010).

The village comprises a group of historical and cultural relics, especially those of the Ly Dynasty, which are diverse, unique and national historical significance, including temples, pagodas, tombs, and monuments. They are typical of the Vietnamese village culture.
