Day 1 Hanoi – Arrival (no meal)
Welcome at the airport and transfer to hotel for check-in and tour briefing. Free to rest till welcome dinner at a fine local restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi
Day 2 Hanoi - city - night train to Lao Cai (B, L, D)
This morning we start exploring Hanoi, taking in the city's outstanding tourist sites such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Single Pillar Pagoda, the West Lake, the Temple of Literature. Proceed to the Museum of Ethnology and admire the country’s ethnic cultural diversities. Continue with a tour on 'cyclo' in through the Old Quarter, a series of guild streets where the local still trade the old way. Enjoy the famed water puppet performance before boarding a train to Lao Cai in the Far North. Overnight in soft-bedded AC train.
Day 3 Lao Cai - Sapa (B, L)
Arrival in Lao Cai railway station early this morning and transfer 40 km uphill to Sapa. After breakfast and refreshment, we’ll travel by car to Lao Chai village of the Black Hmong, visit the village and discover the local life. From Lao Chai, take a trekking tour towards Ta Van, the ethnic village of Day people. Return to Sa Pa mid-afternoon and a climb up the Ham Rong Mount to enjoy the great view of the town as well as terraced rice paddies and deep valleys. Overnight in Sapa.
Day 4 Sapa - Lao Cai - night train back Hanoi (B, L)
This morning we drive to Silver Waterfall and “Heaven Gate”, the highest roadway pass in Vietnam. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Mount Fansipan, the rooftop of Indochina, before a downhill trek through bamboo forest. After lunch by the river, continue to Sin Chai and learn about community-based tourism projects in the village. After that, drive back to Sapa and on to Lao Cai for the night train to Hanoi. Note: 4 hours of walking
Day 5 Hanoi – Cruise of Halong bay (B, L, D)
Back in Hanoi early this morning, we’ll go to a fine restaurant for breakfast first. Revitalized, we journey to Halong Bay, Vietnam’s greatest natural wonder, on a new highway that passes through large rice fields of the Red River Delta. We arrive in Halong at noon and board on a beautiful wooden junk for a 24-hour cruise on the legendary bay. From the comfort of our junk, we’ll spend the day exploring this incredible setting and discovering the many islands and inlets found in the bay made famous in the film Indochine. You can challenge yourself with kayaking and swimming. Vietnamese seafood lunch and dinner included. Overnight on board.
Day 6 Halong bay - Hanoi - Flight to Danang - Hoi An (B, L, D)
Wake up to fresh coffee and a wholesome breakfast before cruising back to Halong City. En route the junk weaves through strange-shaped rock formations that invite comparisons from fighting cocks to dragons and even further! After brunch on board disembark and return to Hanoi airport for the late evening flight to Da Nang. Pick up on arrival in Da Nang and transfer to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 7 Tour of Hoi An ancient town (B, L)
Morning Free and in the afternoon we will explore Hoian’s narrow lanes and historic architecture, calling at the colorful shop-houses for the unexpectedly good bargains of silk wares. Hoian is a charming place that manages to retain Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European influences from its unique and ancient history. Overnight in Hoian
Day 8 Hoi An - Danang – HCMC (B, D)
Today we fly from Da Nang to Saigon in late Afternoon. Pick up an transfer to Hotel in Sai Gon Overnight in Saigon.
Day 9 HCMC 1/2 day (B, L)
Morning free. Pick up at hotel at 13:00 – 13:30 PM. We visit the following places of interest.
The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th 1975 the ‘American War’ officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Cholon & Thien Hau Pagoda: Cholon actually means Big Market – a claim that is well justified as Vietnam’s largest market, the Binh Tay is situated here. The district is home to the city’s 400,000 Chinese and has many beautiful temples and pagodas back to hotel around18:00 PM, Overnight in Saigon.
Day 10 Cu Chi tunnels 1/2 day (B)
8:00- 8:30: Pick up at your hotel. Heading to Cuchi, famous by a system of tunnels deeply underground, with 3floors, a labyrinth of intricate ways, and winding over 200 km long. (~60 km, 1hour). Upon arrival: Watching a presentation video. Getting to see the tunnels and discover how these tunnels were constructed and how its habitants combat two forces: the invading troops and the tunnels itself. Visiting Hoang Cam's smoke-less store, secret hide-outs, fighting bunkers, and many dangerous booby traps. Trying gun shooting with real bullets (fees not included). Tasting boiled tapioca, drinking hot tea. Visiting the rice paper village where you can try to make it by yourself. Drop off at your hotel. Tour ends about 14:00. then free on your own Overnight in Saigon
Day 11 HCMC - My Tho – Ben Tre – Can Tho (B, L, D)
Pick-up at Hotel: 07:30 ~ 08:00 Enjoying 4 hours boat trip and rowing sampan in small canals to visit An Binh Island. Have a short walk around villages; visit some local workshop, an ancient house. Lunch served at a local garden restaurant. Continue boat trip to Vinh Long. Drive to Can Tho. Arrive mid-afternoon. Free for personal exploration upon arrival. Overnight in Can Tho city.
Day 12 Can Tho - Cai Rang floating market – HCMC (B, L)
Early check-out, take a motor boat to visit Cai Rang – the most fascinating floating market in Mekong Delta. Continue to Ba Cong orchard garden. Walk around to see the colourful local life. After heading back to Ho Chi Minh City, we will visit and shooting photo in Binh Thuy ancient house which was chosen as one of recording sites for the romantic film “Lover” of producer J. Annaud. Overnight in Saigon
Day 13 HCMC – Departure (B)
Free time until transfer to the international airport for departure from Vietnam. End Tour
